The stator magnetization test for Unit 1 of the Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped-Storage Power Station, China's largest single-unit capacity (425 MW) facility, has recently been completed, laying a solid foundation for the station's first unit to be commissioned for power generation in 2025.

The purpose of the stator magnetization test is to check the overall quality of the stator core's manufacturing and on-site installation, ensuring the safe operation of the unit. Through the magnetization test, the loss per unit mass of the core is measured, and parameters such as the temperature rise of the core yoke and teeth are used to comprehensively assess the stacking quality of the stator core. In this magnetization test, the stator core loss value was 1.291 W/kg, lower than the design specification value (1.365 W/kg), marking a significant achievement for the 14th Hydropower Engineering Bureau in building a "premium unit" for the Tiantai Pumped-Storage Power Station.

The Tiantai Pumped-Storage Power Station is a key implementation project under the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the National Medium- and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped-Storage Hydropower (2021-2035), and is also a major construction project planned during Zhejiang Province's "14th Five-Year Plan" period. The station has an installed capacity of 1,700 MW, with a rated head of 724 meters—the highest in the world—and a single-unit capacity of 425 MW, ranking first in China.
