CCTV News: January 2 is the first working day of 2025. In the new year, with new goals and new tasks, we move forward with full confidence and dreams. On this new journey, everyone is a protagonist. Acting promptly and putting action first, this year marks the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. At the start of the new year, many major projects are being stepped up and major projects are being put into use.

Unit 1 of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant featuring the Hualong One reactor enters commercial operation

The reporter learned from CNNC that Unit 1 of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant in Fujian, the world's largest Hualong One nuclear power base, was officially put into commercial operation on January 1, marking major progress in the batch construction of Hualong One.

Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant is located in Yunxiao County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It is the starting point for the batch construction of Hualong One and currently the world's largest Hualong One nuclear power base. After a 168-hour full-power continuous operation assessment, Unit 1 was officially put into commercial operation. According to the plan, Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant will build six million-kilowatt-class Hualong One nuclear power units. Four Hualong One units have already started construction and are progressing smoothly.

Li Feng, General Manager of CNNC Zhangzhou Energy, said: "Once the base is completed, it will further optimize the energy structure of Fujian Province. With the commissioning of the Fujian-Guangdong interconnection project, we will also be able to transmit electricity to Guangdong Province. As of now, the total number of Hualong One units in operation and under construction at home and abroad has reached 33, making it the third-generation nuclear power technology with the largest total number of units in operation and under construction in the world, and a 'national calling card' for China's nuclear power going global."

Shandong speeds up transportation engineering construction to improve the multidimensional transportation network

At the start of the new year, key transportation projects are also continuing to advance. In Shandong, a number of key transportation projects are accelerating construction in the first days of the new year, striving to be put into operation as soon as possible.

On New Year's Day 2025, at the construction site of the Huanggang Road Yellow River Crossing Tunnel in Jinan, the slurry balance shield machine "Shanhe Hao," with an excavation diameter of 17.5 meters, was advancing at full speed and steadily 35 meters underground on the north bank of the Yellow River in Jinan, Shandong. Once completed, the Huanggang Road Yellow River Crossing Tunnel will greatly facilitate interconnection between Jinan's main urban area and the Starting Zone for Replacing Old Growth Drivers with New Ones, and strongly accelerate the comprehensive construction of the starting zone.

At the start of the new year, beside the busy T1 Terminal of Jinan Airport, the airport's Phase II expansion and renovation project is gradually taking shape. At present, the main structure of the first opening area of T2 Terminal has been fully topped out except for the reserved area, and 50% of the secondary structure construction of the underground utility tunnel has been completed.

Lu Chen, Director of the Terminal Area Engineering Department of Jinan International Airport Construction Co., Ltd., said: "More than 5,000 workers from all participating units are staying on the front line, carrying out saturated construction around the clock and across all areas, and advancing the project construction with high quality."

First China-Europe freight train departing Xinjiang in the new year heads to Poland

China's transportation construction continues to gain momentum. The increasingly dense transportation network, like vibrant pulses, injects a steady stream of momentum into economic and social development. At the start of the new year, China-Europe freight trains also set off, with the "steel camel caravan" once again heading across mountains and seas to achieve a cross-continental "handshake" between China and Europe. On January 1, Xinjiang's first China-Europe freight train of the new year departed from the standard-gauge yard of the Alashankou railway port for Poland. This was the first China-Europe freight train to leave Xinjiang in the new year.

As of now, the China-Europe freight train routes passing through the Alashankou railway port include 123 routes such as Yuxin'ou, Zhengxin'ou and Chang'an, reaching 21 countries and regions across Asia and Europe including Germany and Poland. The variety of goods is rich, injecting momentum into trade growth under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Ningbo Airport opens its first scheduled direct route to Phnom Penh, Cambodia

On New Year's Day, Ningbo Airport opened a scheduled direct passenger route to Phnom Penh, Cambodia for the first time. This is the first international route opened by Ningbo Airport in 2025 and the first route operated by Cambodia Airways at Ningbo Airport.

It is understood that the Ningbo-Phnom Penh flights are scheduled to operate one flight each on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The flight departing from Ningbo is scheduled to take off at 13:30 and arrive in Phnom Penh at 16:50 local time; the flight departing from Phnom Penh is scheduled to take off at 07:40 local time and arrive in Ningbo at 12:30.

Stator of the first unit at Sichuan's Yebatan Hydropower Station completed hoisting

At the Yebatan Hydropower Station on the upper reaches of the Jinsha River in southwest China, construction workers have completed the hoisting of the stator of the first unit.

Yebatan Hydropower Station is the seventh of the 13 cascade hydropower stations planned on the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, with an installed capacity of 2.24 million kilowatts. It is one of the 102 major projects in the national 14th Five-Year Plan and an important supporting project for the clean energy base on the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, a continuing base for the West-East Power Transmission project.

How was the hoisting of the stator of the first unit completed? Let's look at the reporter's on-site report on January 1.

The reporter saw in the underground powerhouse of Yebatan Hydropower Station that the first stator had been positioned in the pit, meaning the hoisting had been successfully completed. The stator is the core equipment of a hydropower generating unit, and its installation accuracy directly affects the power generation efficiency of the unit. Next, the bolts still need to be aligned and tightened, and some debugging and verification work needs to be done. The completion of this stator hoisting has also pressed the fast-forward button for the installation of the first unit at Yebatan Hydropower Station. Subsequently, the installation of the rotor and turbine components will be accelerated.

The main works of Yebatan Hydropower Station consist of three parts: the dam, flood discharge and energy dissipation facilities, and the water diversion and power generation system. At present, the dam has been poured to a height of 171 meters and will reach 217 meters upon completion. After completion, the normal water level will be 2,889 meters, with a reservoir capacity of 1.08 billion cubic meters, equivalent to the water storage capacity of more than 70 West Lakes in Hangzhou.

Liu Qiang, Executive Director of Huadian Jinshang Yebatan Branch, said: "Yebatan Hydropower Station has the basic characteristics of 'five highs and one large': high cold, high altitude, extra-high arch dam, high ground stress, high burial depth, and large-span underground powerhouse. Through scientific management, scientific and technological research, and technological innovation, a series of intelligent technological means have been developed and applied, ensuring the safety, quality and progress of project construction. We plan to achieve the commissioning of the first batch of units by the end of 2025."

Major new energy projects in Jinhua, Zhejiang expand production capacity again

At the start of the new year, Jinhua, Zhejiang is accelerating the pace of photovoltaic industry construction. Among them, the largest single new energy project is Phase II of Runma Photovoltaic, with a total investment of 7.24 billion yuan. After the project is put into use in the future, it is expected to generate an annual output value of about 12.7 billion yuan and annual tax revenue of more than 300 million yuan.

In addition to photovoltaic projects, the New Energy Vehicle Full Industry Chain Science and Technology Innovation Industrial Park with a total investment of 5.89 billion yuan and the New Energy Vehicle Parts Production Base project with a total investment of 5 billion yuan also started construction on New Year's Day. It is understood that the 40 projects started in this concentrated commencement cover multiple fields such as advanced manufacturing, new energy, and strengthening the foundation of scientific and technological innovation.
