On December 24, the Science and Technology Department of the Autonomous Region approved the establishment of the "Guangxi High-end Engineering Equipment Laboratory," which means that LiuGong now has the highest-level independent innovation research platform in Guangxi's high-end engineering equipment field, and its strategic scientific and technological strength has been further enhanced.

The autonomous region laboratory is one of the key measures for Guangxi to implement the goals and tasks of the three-year action plan for strengthening Guangxi through science and technology and to build a science and technology innovation cooperation zone oriented toward ASEAN. The autonomous region laboratory, benchmarked against national laboratories and national key laboratories, is Guangxi's highest-level and highest-standard science and technology research and development platform.

The Guangxi High-end Engineering Equipment Laboratory addresses the high-end engineering equipment needs of major national projects and the industry's projects to "shore up shortcomings" and "strengthen strengths." It actively anticipates and responds to the unmanned demand brought about by negative population growth as well as the opportunities presented by the rapid development of generative artificial intelligence. Taking the extremization, greening, unmanned operation, and intelligentization of engineering equipment as its focus, it has laid out four research directions: key technologies for engineering equipment under extreme conditions, new energy technologies for engineering equipment, key technologies for autonomous operation of engineering equipment, and generative artificial intelligence application technologies for engineering equipment, so as to promote breakthroughs in core foundational, key common, and frontier application technologies of high-end engineering equipment. The laboratory will be based in Guangxi, oriented toward the whole country, and focused on the globe, aiming at national-level innovation platforms, and will be built into a source of core technologies for high-end engineering equipment, a leader in the transformation of high-end engineering equipment innovation achievements, a new driving force for industrial cultivation, growth, and upgrading, and a new highland for talent aggregation, providing a solid technical and platform foundation for the upgrading of traditional industries, the construction of strategic emerging industries, and the layout of future industries in Guangxi and even the country.

The laboratory is led by LiuGong, with the High-end Equipment Research Institute of Zhejiang University, the National Engineering Research Center for Electric Vehicles of Beijing Institute of Technology, Guangxi University, and Liuzhou LiuGong Excavator Co., Ltd. participating in its construction; each technical direction is led by multiple academicians, jointly promoting breakthroughs in core foundational, key common, and frontier application technologies of high-end engineering equipment; during the construction period, efforts will be made to build the laboratory into an innovation platform for core technology research, achievement transformation, industrial upgrading, and talent aggregation for Guangxi's high-end engineering equipment and even the global high-end engineering equipment manufacturing industry.
