The "Yin Da Ji Huang" (Water Diversion from Datong River to Huangshui River) project is the largest inter-basin water transfer project in Qinghai. Today (the 30th), the key control project of "Yin Da Ji Huang"—the main canal water diversion project—passed completion acceptance, and will benefit approximately one million people in Xining and Haidong.

The designed diversion flow of the main canal of the "Yin Da Ji Huang" water diversion project is 35 cubic meters per second, the design check flood standard is a 200-year return period, and the approved annual water diversion volume is 256 million cubic meters. It is a Class II large (2) inter-basin water transfer project. The project started in 2004 and was fully completed in 2020. Among its components, the Daban Mountain water diversion tunnel, with a total length of 24.17 kilometers and a tunnel diameter of 5 meters, overcame many worldwide engineering challenges such as the construction of ultra-long and deeply buried tunnels.

At present, all main and branch canals of the "Yin Da Ji Huang" project have achieved normal water flow, and the supporting field works on 1,004,900 mu are ready for water supply. After full operation in the future, the benefited area will cover 75 townships in 1 prefecture, 2 cities, and 5 counties (districts) of Qinghai Province, providing drinking water for approximately one million people, production water for industrial parks along the main stream of the Huangshui River, water for distinctive modern agriculture and animal husbandry, and ecological water use.
