On December 24, the "Citong" developed by CCCC TianheTBMtunneling machinein Quanzhouduring construction of the water conveyance tunnel for the Beigao Main Canal function adjustment project, achieved a single-day excavation of 44.8 m in the water conveyance tunnel, setting a tunneling record for 6 m-class open-type TBM methods of the same type.

This project is Quanzhou's first to use a TBM tunneling machine for construction. The TBM tunneling length in this section is about 11 km, and it must pass beneath major risk sources including Provincial Highway 215, the Zhangquan-Xiao Railway, the Quanzhou Ring Expressway, the under-construction Xingquan Railway, and 12 faults of various sizes.

As the equipment provider for the project, CCCC Tianhe carried out targeted design for the "Citong," equipping it with the support of "six major functions." Since launch, the "Citong" has maintained safe and efficient tunneling despite construction challenges such as mud bursts, water inflow, rockbursts, and large deformation of soft rock, and has been recognized by the owner and the construction contractor.
