On December 23, the Jinan Airport Phase II Reconstruction and Expansion Comprehensive Transportation Hub Project reached a key milestone—the first development zone of the project was topped out, marking the early completion of the annual target for the main structure construction of the comprehensive transportation hub project and laying the foundation for subsequent larger-scale main structure construction.
The comprehensive transportation hub project is located on the central axis of the newly built Terminal 2, surrounded by Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and the future Terminal 3. It serves the function of rapid transfer between various transportation modes and passenger parking within the airport system. It is an important supporting facility in the Jinan Airport Phase II Reconstruction and Expansion Project, as well as the core carrier of the integrated architectural landscape design of the area, and an important part of showcasing the overall image of Jinan Airport and reflecting its service level.
The comprehensive transportation hub project has a total construction area of 388,700 square meters, with a north-south length of 301.4 meters, an east-west length of 395.6 meters, and a building height of 15.95 meters. Among them, the comprehensive transportation center is approximately 120,000 square meters, with three floors above ground and two floors underground; the parking building is approximately 260,000 square meters (including the traffic space in front of the building), with four floors above ground and two floors underground, and can accommodate 4,640 motor vehicles.
After the project is completed, it will achieve zero-distance transfer and seamless connection among "air, railway, rail transit, and road" transportation, becoming the largest and most functionally complete modern comprehensive transportation hub in Shandong Province, providing passengers with a more efficient and comfortable travel experience.
In the early stage of project construction, the construction site conditions were complex. To ensure the smooth progress of construction, Jinan International Airport Construction Co., Ltd. communicated and coordinated with the operation support departments of Jinan Airport and various on-site units. Through scientific planning and coordinated scheduling of the construction schedule, they orderly advanced work such as relocation of the relocation area, road diversion, and pipeline investigation, quickly providing work surfaces for the construction units and ensuring the normal entry of the work teams.
In view of the project's characteristics, including a large construction area, numerous cross-operation construction activities, complex access roads, and the interweaving of high-speed railway and subway construction, the airport construction company summarized construction difficulties, organized special meetings with construction, supervision, and other units, and concentrated efforts to solve difficult problems, thereby ensuring the steady progress of on-site construction to the greatest extent. During the construction process, all participating units adhered to refined construction, standardized management, and high-quality construction, planned ahead, reasonably optimized construction plans, strengthened safety and quality standardization, and used advanced technologies such as BIM and smart platforms to overcome difficulties such as over-height and over-limit formwork construction, super-long component construction, and cross-construction under complex conditions, achieving rapid project construction and completing the topping-out milestone of the first development zone ahead of schedule.
