On December 18, the first domestically produced mining TBM exported to Africa, "China Nonferrous No. 2," jointly built by CRCHI and China Fifteenth Metallurgical Construction, rolled off the production line in Changsha, Hunan. The equipment will participate in the construction of the tunnel project at the Southeast Ore Body of the Chambishi Mine in Zambia. This marks the first export of a Chinese mining boring machine to Africa.
"China Nonferrous No. 2" has an excavation diameter of 5.63 meters, a length of approximately 130 meters, and a weight of about 800 tons. It is designed with a minimum horizontal turning radius of 50 meters and can adapt to a maximum gradient of ±15°.

Leaders attending the event included Liang Lei, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Fifteenth Metallurgical Construction Group Co., Ltd.; Wang Ping, Assistant to the General Manager of China Fifteenth Metallurgical Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Party Secretary and Chairman of the Mining Company; Qin Shuai, Department Manager of China Nonferrous Mining Corporation Limited (NFCA); Zhao Hui, Party Secretary and Chairman of CRCHI; Wang Peng, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager; and Hu Xiaobing, Member of the Party Standing Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission.

It is understood that the Southeast Ore Body of the Chambishi Mine in Zambia is the first digital mine project in Africa. The tunnel project is 9.7 kilometers long and presents construction challenges such as long-distance hard rock, fault fracture zones, small-radius turning, off-center excavation, long-distance retreat, cage transport, and high ground temperature.
In response to the construction risks and key difficulties, the development team adopted design measures through technological innovation, including modularization, targeted small-turning-radius design, and back-up support without track laying. They equipped the machine with an auxiliary tightening system, an immediate support system, and an advanced geological prediction system, improving the boring machine's adaptability to adverse geological conditions. At the same time, they customized humanized equipment such as a refrigeration system, an online cutter monitoring system, and an integrated office and rest area to enhance operator comfort and provide strong support for project construction.

It is reported that the Southeast Ore Body project of the Chambishi Copper Mine in Zambia has a total investment of USD 830 million, with a construction scale of 3.3 million tons of ore mined and processed annually, producing 60,000 tons of copper contained in concentrate. The construction of the tunnel project will significantly improve the copper mine's transport capacity.
Leaders from AVIC International Beijing Co., Ltd., the Baokang County Emergency Management Bureau, the Baokang County Mining Association, Hubei Longmang Phosphate Chemical Co., Ltd., and Baokang Zhongping Phosphate Chemical Co., Ltd. were invited to attend.
