On December 14, the Bayingolin–Tieganlike–Ruoqiang 750 kV transmission line project, China's longest 750 kV power transmission and transformation project traversing desert routes, which was designed with the participation of Hubei Engineering Company, was officially put into operation. This is also the 750 kV power transmission and transformation project with the largest single-project investment scale during China's 14th Five-Year Plan period. It will provide strong support for enhancing the capacity to transmit Xinjiang electricity outward and for safeguarding the overall national electricity supply.

The Bayingolin–Tieganlike–Ruoqiang 750 kV transmission line project is China's longest 750 kV power transmission and transformation project traversing desert routes, Xinjiang's first 750 kV ultra-high-voltage power transmission and transformation project crossing a desert railway, and a key project for advancing the electrification of Xinjiang and serving the construction of the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt. It is a key project for realizing the interconnection of the Xinjiang and Qinghai power grids and an important link in building Xinjiang's 750 kV ring network around the Tarim Basin.

After the project is completed and put into operation, it will strongly promote the interconnection of the large power grids of Xinjiang and Qinghai, enhance the capacity to transmit Xinjiang electricity outward, provide strong support for the overall national electricity supply, substantially increase the outward transmission capacity of green energy, and help accelerate the conversion of Xinjiang's energy advantages into economic advantages. At the same time, the project will effectively support the development of new energy projects such as large-scale wind and photovoltaic base projects in southern Xinjiang focusing on desert, Gobi, and barren areas, meet the medium- and long-term new load demand for electricity in the relevant areas, promote the formation in the relevant areas of a 750 kV hub-type backbone grid pattern featuring 'north connection and south extension, west linkage and east transmission,' and strongly support the construction of Xinjiang's third AC outward transmission channel.

The project starts from the Xinjiang Bayingolin 750 kV substation, passes through the Tieganlike 750 kV switching station, and ends at the Xinjiang Bayingolin Ruoqiang 750 kV substation. The total line length is 880 kilometers, and the terrain it traverses is complex and varied, passing through deserts, lakes, mountains, wetlands, populus euphratica forest protection areas, and other areas. Ninety percent of the area along the project route lies in desert, Gobi, and barren wilderness regions. The design institute under Hubei Engineering Company is responsible for the survey and design work of Package 2 of the project.

Since the survey and design work began in 2022, the project team of Hubei Engineering Company has united as one, tackled difficulties head-on, and overcome numerous difficulties such as tight schedules and heavy tasks. They have done a good job in delivering drawings at each stage, providing technical briefings, cooperating with quality supervision and inspection, and other work, always maintaining close contact with all parties involved in the project, promptly solving on-site technical problems, providing strong guarantees for project construction, and contributing the strength of PowerChina.
