All three cable towers of Dongwuyang Grand Bridge on Ningde-Shangrao Expressway capped
On December 9, with the successful capping of the last cable tower section, construction of the Dongwuyang Grand Bridge entered a new stage. The three cable towers, shaped like "large yellow croakers," now stand fully above the sea surface. The unique artistic design of the towers complements Xiapu County's reputation as the "Hometown of Chinese Ecological Large Yellow Croaker," showcasing regional cultural characteristics.
As a controlling project of the Ningde-Shangrao Expressway, the Dongwuyang Grand Bridge has a total length of 2,546.6 meters and adopts an extradosed cable-stayed bridge design, with a navigable-span bridge of 560 meters. The bridge's cable towers are of variable cross-section rectangular solid structure, constructed in 7 segments, with a tower height of 33.5 meters above the deck, consolidated with the box girder and equipped with lightning protection devices. Cable tower construction faced challenges including complex cross-section variations, high precision requirements for cable saddle embedment, difficult alignment control, and high safety risks. To smoothly advance the construction task, the project team optimized the construction plan through scientific planning and precise measures, strictly controlled construction procedures, and ensured high-quality completion of the cable towers.
The successful capping of the three cable towers means the focus of bridge construction has shifted to the main girder segment construction and stay cable installation. At this point, the overall progress of the Dongwuyang Grand Bridge has exceeded 75%, bringing the project one step closer to completion and opening to traffic.
