On December 10 local time, PowerChina signed a commercial contract for Section 2 of Phase 1 of the main line of Belgrade Metro Line 1 with the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, the Secretariat for Public Transport of the City of Belgrade, and Belgrade Metro and Vehicle Company. This contract is the fourth project contract signed by PowerChina since it began promoting participation in the Belgrade Metro series of projects in 2019, and is also one of the most important contracts for the civil works of the metro main line, marking the official start of construction of the main line of the Serbian metro. Relevant leaders of PowerChina's Eurasia Regional Headquarters attended the signing ceremony.

Phase 1 of Belgrade Metro Line 1 is located in the urban area of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The line has a total length of 15.4 kilometers, including a 2.1-kilometer at-grade section, a 0.2-kilometer transition section, a 1.9-kilometer cut-and-cover section, and a 10-kilometer TBM section. It is planned to build 15 new stations, 10 shafts, and 1 depot. The signed Section 2 project mainly includes the construction of 9 stations, 2 shafts, a 4.1-kilometer at-grade and cut-and-cover section, and a 3.1-kilometer shield tunneling section, as well as the procurement of TBM equipment and the construction of a segment production yard.

After the project is completed and opened to traffic, it will greatly ease road traffic pressure in the capital area, reduce air pollution in the urban area, facilitate residents' daily travel, greatly improve people's well-being, and further drive the level of economic development along the metro line.
