On December 10, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Shaanxi Foping Pumped Storage Power Station project was held in Foping County, Shaanxi Province, marking that the Shaanxi Foping Pumped Storage Power Station project has officially entered the substantive construction stage.

The Shaanxi Foping Pumped Storage Power Station is located within Foping County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province. It is a key implementation project of the "14th Five-Year Plan" under the Medium- and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035). The station is a daily-regulation pure pumped storage power station with a total installed capacity of 1,400 MW, and is a Class I large (1) type project. The station hub mainly consists of an upper reservoir, a lower reservoir, a water conveyance system, an underground powerhouse, and a surface switchyard. The 14th Bureau of Hydropower undertakes the civil works, metal structures, and electromechanical equipment installation for the station's water conveyance and power generation system.

After the station is completed and put into operation, it will mainly undertake functions such as peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, phase modulation, and emergency accident reserve for the load center of the Shaanxi power grid, while also accommodating the province's new energy consumption. It will provide strong and robust support for the energy security of the city and the province, and will certainly play a key and far-reaching role in promoting county-level industrial development, rural revitalization, livelihood improvement, ecological protection, tourism development, and many other aspects, providing vigorous momentum for Foping to achieve higher-quality green and sustainable economic and social development.
