On December 10, the Fourth Council Meeting of the Ninth Session, the Sixth Standing Council Meeting of the Ninth Session of the China Building Decoration Association (CBDA), and the Conference Marking the 40th Anniversary of the Founding of the China Building Decoration Association were held at the Beijing Conference Center.

The China Building Decoration Association summarized the achievements of the building decoration industry over the past forty years and reviewed the industry's forty-year journey of struggle through the "Four Ones" format: a book, an exhibition, a video, and an artistic performance.

Wang Zhongqi, President of the China Building Decoration Association, delivered the "Report on the 40-Year Development of the China Building Decoration Association." He pointed out that these forty years have been forty years of continuous improvement in design standards and construction quality. Since its founding, the China Building Decoration Association has taken it as its mission to serve enterprises and lead the industry's development, continuously promoting the improvement of design standards and construction quality. These forty years have been forty years of continuous expansion of the decoration industry's market scale. Especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China's decoration projects have advanced at an accelerated pace, with a myriad of sails racing and tides surging. These forty years have been forty years of abundant scientific and technological achievements in the industry, with innovative development increasingly becoming a new driving force. Since 2003, the CBDA has convened five industry science and technology conferences, and at the same time has extensively carried out science and technology demonstration projects and exchanges of scientific and technological innovation achievements, continuously raising the scientific and technological content of design and construction. These forty years have been forty years of significant enhancement of the decoration industry's international influence. From the Shanghai Tower to Guangzhou's "Canton Tower," from the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower to the Boao Forum for Asia International Conference Center, from the Shenzhen Ping An Finance Center to Beijing Daxing International Airport, one "China Speed" after another has broken world records, and one "China Miracle" after another has astonished the world, manifesting the Chinese spirit and proving China's strength. These forty years have been forty years of gradual improvement of industry standards. Since 2001, the association has served as chief editor of multiple national and industry standards, including the "Code for Construction and Acceptance of Residential Decoration Engineering," continuously improving the quality and safety of building decoration projects. These forty years have been forty years of cultivating industrial workers and promoting the spirit of craftsmanship. We have improved the mechanism for cultivating industrial workers, accelerated the building of the industrial workforce, safeguarded the rights and interests of industrial workers, and established a diversified evaluation mechanism for skilled talent. These forty years have been forty years of industry self-discipline and integrity building. In line with the principles of serving enterprises, serving the government, and maintaining fair competition order in the industry, the association has long strengthened training and publicity in credit building, helping industry enterprises enhance risk prevention awareness and their ability to effectively avoid contract traps and performance risks, while strengthening the self-requirement of trustworthy operation.

Examining the present, the China Building Decoration Association assists the industry in forging ahead with the "Four Services." First, in serving the nation, we must "stride forward." Because we are closest to enterprises, we understand them most deeply. We constantly bear in mind our original aspiration, diligently reflect on our responsibilities, and shoulder more heavy burdens. Second, in serving society, we must "bend down." With the nation's great cause in mind and the people's aspirations at heart, the building decoration industry has made important contributions to absorbing surplus rural labor and alleviating social employment pressure. According to incomplete statistics, the number of people employed in the building decoration industry was about 15.5 million in 2012 and rose to 19 million in 2022. Third, in serving the masses, we must "bear patiently with vexations." "Those who do not seek the easy succeed; those who do not avoid difficulties advance." Consumer disputes occur frequently in the decoration industry, and responding to and resolving disputes is a mandatory question before us. We must regulate the industry's market order by formulating industry rules and conventions, strengthening industry self-discipline, and establishing people's mediation committees, actively resolving conflicts and disputes between decoration companies and ordinary citizens, safeguarding the rights and interests of the people, and enabling them to have a greater, more direct, and more tangible sense of gain, happiness, and security. Fourth, in serving the industry, we must "settle our minds." On the one hand, we act as the industry's "guide," cooperating with competent authorities to formulate national standards, industry standards, and group standards, and actively publicizing and implementing them to raise the industry's overall level and international competitiveness; on the other hand, we act as enterprises' "supportive family," always upholding the purpose of serving enterprises and providing them with support and services in information consulting, legal consulting, market expansion, and many other aspects. Looking to the future, the China Building Decoration Association must promote the modernization of the decoration industry and develop new quality productive forces. In addition to the deep integration of the traditional decoration industry chain with new technologies, it is also necessary to carry out a revolution in development strategy, organizational structure, and management systems, realizing the dual-driven approach of technological innovation and management innovation, thereby radiating new vitality and new momentum for the decoration industry to move toward high-quality development.
