Recently, Wan Li, Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia, and a delegation of 16 people visited the site of the Tunisia Mellègue Dam Project undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 15 Co., Ltd. for research and guidance.

Wan Li and the delegation went deep into the project site and listened to the project leader's report on the construction progress, construction plan and expected results of the Mellègue Project, and gained a detailed understanding of the project's engineering technology innovation practices, rational resource allocation and the achievements of cooperation with the Tunisian side. He fully affirmed the achievements of the project team, and emphasized that all parties should continue to maintain efficient collaboration, ensure project safety and quality, and fulfill corporate social responsibility so as to achieve high-quality development, thereby contributing more to implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's "Ten Partnership Actions" for China and Africa to jointly advance modernization and to deepening China-Tunisia practical cooperation. He also encouraged continued active exploration of the Tunisian market, shouldering the responsibility of spreading China's story and demonstrating Chinese wisdom, and contributing PowerChina's strength to promoting the in-depth implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Subsequently, the two sides held discussions and exchanges on multiple fields including situation analysis, consular policy, youth work, consular protection and economic development between China and Tunisia. Ambassador Wan Li elaborated on the current situation in Tunisia, and conducted an in-depth analysis of the two home-diplomacy events hosted by China this year—the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit—exploring the challenges and opportunities facing Belt and Road construction under the current situation, and providing guidance on the next steps for China-Tunisia economic and trade exchanges and engineering contracting opportunities, pointing out the direction for the subsequent development of Sinohydro Bureau 15 in Tunisia. Staff of the embassy's consular department exchanged views on continuously optimizing visa policies, creating more convenience for smooth personnel exchanges between China and Tunisia, and the progress of the embassy's youth work, and also gave a presentation on the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Consular Protection and Assistance. Finally, the two sides also exchanged views on General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on China's high-quality economic development, the Group's implementation plan for obtaining high-quality overseas orders, and the project department's efforts to deepen refined secondary operations to create benefits.

Through this discussion and exchange, the Ambassador, drawing on his rich diplomatic experience and multicultural understanding, offered advice and suggestions for the project team in addressing international cooperation challenges, working together to promote common development and injecting strong momentum into deepening China-Tunisia friendly relations. Through in-depth study of international cooperation concepts and development strategy guidelines, the project department enhanced its international perspective.

The sub-regional head of PowerChina International's Middle East and North Africa Regional Headquarters and relevant personnel from the Mellègue Project Department accompanied the visit.
