Recently, China's largest offshore oilfield group shore power project —Bohai Oilfieldshorepower application project has been fully completed.
The Bohai Oilfield shore power application project was implemented in three phases, successively deployed in the Qinhuangdao-Caofeidian, Bozhong-Kenli, and Suizhong-Jinzhou oilfield groups, with power supplied to offshore production platforms from onshore substations located in Hebei, Shandong, and Liaoning provinces respectively. At present, the Phase I and Phase II projects have been put into operation in 2021 and 2022 respectively. The Liaoning shore power project is the Phase III project, and is also the green channel opened up for the Liaodong regional oilfield group — the largest contributor to Bohai Bay oil and gas production — as Northeast China implements the "dual carbon" strategy and bids farewell to the "power islands" of offshore oilfields.

With the official commissioning of the two onshore high-voltage substations for Liaoning shore power, the Phase III shore power project has come to a successful conclusion, completing the construction of the main shore power grids in the Hebei, Shandong, and Liaoning regions. This has formed a regional power supply network and large-scale power transmission capacity spanning 980 megawatts from south to north across Bohai Bay, covering more than 150 offshore platforms in 7 oilfield areas of the Bohai Sea. According to the design scale, in peak power consumption years the Phase III shore power project can save 1 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 1.75 million tons.
