On November 22 local time, at the celebration of the 49th anniversary of Suriname's independence, Surinamese President Chan Santokhi awarded the Palm Tree Medal Silver to Shen Dan, Country Representative of Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) in Suriname, in recognition of her outstanding contributions as a POWERCHINA representative to promoting infrastructure development in Suriname and the cultural integration of the peoples of the two countries.

The Palm Tree Medal is one of the honorary medals awarded by the President of Suriname, intended to commend international friends and national citizens who have made important contributions to the social and economic development of Suriname. Since 2019, POWERCHINA has been committed to improving infrastructure construction in remote areas of Suriname, achieving notable results especially in green energy and livelihood projects. Receiving this honor fully reflects POWERCHINA's increasingly important influence in Suriname and the wider Latin American region.

Over the past six years, the POWERCHINA team has leveraged its professional strengths to actively carry out green energy projects in the jungle regions of Suriname, advancing the construction of local photovoltaic power stations and bringing clean, sustainable electricity supply to inland areas. In addition, POWERCHINA has participated in multiple "small yet beautiful" and "livelihood-benefiting" projects, including irrigation systems, sluice gate construction, and power transmission and transformation, helping to improve the living conditions of local residents and winning widespread praise from the Surinamese government and public.

POWERCHINA's technical and engineering strength has been widely recognized by the local government and people, laying a solid foundation for cooperation between China and Suriname in the field of infrastructure construction and injecting new momentum into the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
