On November 14, accompanied by the resounding sound of ship horns, the 520 Offshore Self-Elevating Survey and Test Platform (referred to as the 520 Platform) of PowerChina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation Limited set sail grandly, heading to an offshore wind power project in the Yellow Sea waters of Shandong to carry out its first survey operation, opening a new journey for Zhongnan Institute toward the sea.
The 520 Platform is currently the most digitally intelligent, most advanced in equipment, and most fully integrated offshore self-elevating comprehensive geological survey, testing, and research platform in China. It integrates automated drilling, in-situ testing, and geotechnical testing, and is the first self-owned ultra-large high-end offshore engineering equipment of Zhongnan Institute. The platform has a maximum capacity of 60 people, a self-sustaining capability of 25 days, a conventional operating water depth of 75 meters (extreme operating water depth of 85 meters), an operational wind resistance rating of Level 8, and a maximum wind resistance rating of Level 15.
The 520 Platform is equipped with an automated drilling package, wave compensation drilling rig, and platform-type static cone penetration testing equipment, and has introduced the internationally most advanced in-hole static cone penetration testing equipment. With "one setup for three boreholes," it possesses efficient, precise, and all-condition survey operation capabilities. With the platform's high-precision DP dynamic positioning system, the positioning accuracy of survey operations is within 0.3 meters, maximally ensuring survey precision. In addition, the platform has introduced advanced foreign geotechnical testing equipment, with indoor testing technology leading nationwide, enabling integrated exploration and testing operations simultaneously, reducing sample disturbance, and ensuring the accuracy of test data.
The 520 Platform has independently customized and developed a digital twin system, intelligent energy efficiency management system, digital intelligent survey system, and intelligent monitoring system, which can achieve real-time dynamic monitoring of the platform's structural stress state, energy efficiency status, and construction site, as well as prediction of dangerous behaviors, ensuring efficient and safe navigation and operations. It has obtained professional certification from the China Classification Society (CCS), among which the digital twin system obtained the first domestic certificate of conformity for a digital twin system of an offshore mobile platform.
The official commissioning of the 520 Platform marks that the offshore wind power business development of Zhongnan Institute has entered a new stage. In the future, Zhongnan Institute will fully leverage its advantages in offshore engineering equipment and core offshore wind power technologies, continuously improve its deep-sea engineering survey and design capabilities, and contribute PowerChina's strength to boosting marine resource development, supporting marine engineering construction, and building a "Maritime Power."
