From November 8 to 9, the finals of the Second Shandong Provincial Civil Engineering Testing Personnel Skills Competition were held in Jinan. The event was guided by the Shandong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions and hosted by the Shandong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and jointly organized by the Shandong Provincial Construction and Building Materials Trade Union, the Shandong Provincial Construction Engineering Quality and Safety Center, Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College, and the Shandong Civil Engineering and Architecture Society.
The competition focused on construction project quality and set up two special events: asphalt penetration testing and chloride ion testing of mixing water for concrete. Targeting fire safety in construction projects, it set up a special event for oxygen index testing of insulation materials. Focusing on building "good houses," it set up a special event for formaldehyde testing of indoor environmental pollutants. Competition scores were calculated separately for the four events on a 100-point scale, with theoretical knowledge examination accounting for 30% and practical skills assessment accounting for 70%. Through层层 selection at preliminary competitions in each city, a total of 92 contestants from 40 representative teams across the province's 16 prefecture-level cities advanced to the finals.
After two days of intense competition, the contestants earnestly completed the theoretical knowledge assessment and, in accordance with practical requirements, completed the special practical assessments, comprehensively demonstrating the superb skills and professional standards of construction project quality testing practitioners in our province. Sixteen people won first prize in individual special assessments, 32 won second prize, and 44 won third prize. Shandong Jianyan Testing and Inspection Technology Co., Ltd., Shandong Hongrun Testing Technology Co., Ltd., and Qingdao Chengda Engineering Testing Co., Ltd. won first prize in the team category; five institutions won second prize in the team category; seven testing institutions won third prize in the team category; and 25 testing institutions won the team excellence award. Seven units, including the Jinan Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, won the Outstanding Organization Award.
At the closing ceremony, Wang Runxiao, member of the Party Leadership Group and deputy director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, said that project quality is linked at one end to society's "satisfaction index" and at the other to the "happiness index" of millions of households, and is the most tangible "matter of national importance" and "major affair of the people." This competition fully demonstrated the contestants' superb professional competence, and they competed with skill and style, achieving the expected goals of major training, major drills, major competitions, and major contests.
He said that competent departments in all cities should actively study the new policy content related to construction project quality testing, actively guide testing institutions to align with new standards and complete qualification placement work, standardize market order, and ensure the smooth development of construction project quality testing work across the province. The broad ranks of construction project quality testing practitioners should truly devote themselves to testing, raise awareness, and improve capabilities, and strive to be practitioners, responsible persons, and promoters of construction project quality testing work.
