With the installation of the last stainless steel panel on the tree-shaped columns of the east facade of the Chongqing East Railway Station station building, the "Huangjue Soaring to the Sky" design of the Chongqing East Railway Station station building, jointly constructed by China Railway Construction and China Railway 11th Bureau Group and other units, made its debut, marking that the Chongqing East Railway Station station building project has fully entered the interior decoration and finishing stage.

The Chongqing East Railway Station station building and supporting comprehensive transportation hub project is located in the Chayuan area of Nan'an District, Chongqing, with Qiaoping Mountain at its back. The total construction area of the hub is about 1.23 million square meters, the station building and related works cover 120,000 square meters, and the station yard has a scale of 15 platforms and 29 tracks. It is a pilot project for station-city integration in building a country with strong transportation network, the largest high-speed railway hub station in western China, and one of the four main passenger stations in Chongqing.

According to the relevant person in charge of the passenger station construction command center of China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd., the design of Chongqing East Railway Station is inspired by the Huangjue tree, the city tree of Chongqing. The creative design of its appearance is based on the theme of "mountains and rivers stretching a thousand li, Huangjue soaring to the sky." The building facade adopts the brushwork of Chinese landscape painting, displaying the majesty and grandeur of the Three Gorges and the tough and upright posture of the Huangjue through six vigorous and powerful column forms, implying that the hub connects mountains and rivers across a thousand li and extends broadly in all directions.

The Chongqing East Railway Station hub project is divided into eight levels above and below ground, and innovatively adopts a "four-sided station entry" design. The east facade unveiled this time has a total of six tree-shaped columns, distributed symmetrically in a stepped pattern. The front of the tree-shaped columns has a trumpet-shaped form, with a maximum height of 41 meters, and the exterior of the tree-shaped columns is composed of nearly 1,000 stainless steel panels, each 3 millimeters thick.

At present, the exterior facade curtain wall, metal roof, and skylights of the elevated waiting floor of Chongqing East Railway Station have basically been completed, and construction such as interior ceilings and floor stone paving is being advanced simultaneously. It is expected that the interior and exterior decoration and finishing as well as mechanical and electrical installation will be basically completed by the end of this year.

After Chongqing East Railway Station is completed and put into use, it will together with Chongqing Station, Chongqing West Station, and Chongqing North Station form the "four main" passenger stations in the central urban area of Chongqing. It is of great significance for building the urban development engine of Chongqing's eastern trough valley, further improving Chongqing's "mi-shaped" high-speed railway network, and promoting the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the New Western Land-Sea Corridor.
