September 19 (Xinhua) — According to a message on the WeChat public account of the Anhui Provincial Earthquake Agency, the agency issued a situation report on the 18th, stating that after the magnitude-4.7 earthquake in Feidong on September 18, 2024, the Anhui Provincial Earthquake Agency and the Anhui Provincial Emergency Management Department immediately activated the earthquake emergency service response.

The epicenter of this earthquake was located in Liangyuan Town, Feidong County, Hefei City, Anhui Province. The tremor was distinctly felt in the Hefei area and was widely felt across Anhui Province. No injuries have been reported. As of now, the largest aftershock monitored has been of magnitude 2.5. The China Earthquake Administration organized the China Earthquake Networks Center, the Anhui Provincial Earthquake Agency, the Zhejiang Provincial Earthquake Agency, the Shanghai Earthquake Agency and other units for a joint consultation, concluding that the possibility of an earthquake of magnitude 5 or above occurring in the original epicentral area in the coming days is low. Working groups from the provincial and municipal earthquake and emergency departments in Anhui have been dispatched to the epicentral area to inspect the disaster situation and guide emergency response efforts.

At present, the emergency and earthquake departments at the provincial, municipal and county levels are carrying out response work in an orderly manner.
