On September 16, excavation of the main tunnel of Tianzhushan No. 1 Tunnel on the Xi'an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway exceeded 10,000 meters, marking important progress in tunnel construction and laying the foundation for the smooth breakthrough of the entire tunnel.

The Tianzhushan No. 1 Tunnel has a total length of 14.742 kilometers and passes through the low mountainous area at the southern foot of the Qinling Mountains, with a maximum burial depth of about 690 meters. The tunnel contains unfavorable geological conditions such as dangerous rock, rockfall, fault fracture zones, karst, high ground stress, and mud and water inrush. It is a major and difficult control project for the entire Xi'an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway and a Class I high-risk tunnel, involving high construction difficulty and significant safety risks.

Xicheng Passenger Dedicated Line Shaanxi Company adopted advanced geological forecasting technology, strengthened monitoring and measurement management, fully promoted mechanized construction across all processes, and successfully developed and applied more than 20 innovative techniques and equipment, including fan-shaped traceless crown-penetrating tooling, flexible adjustment blocks for low side walls, and positioning devices for locking foot anchor pipes.

The Xi'an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway starts from Xi'an in Shaanxi Province, runs southeast through the Qinling Mountains, passes through Shangluo, and finally reaches Shiyan in Hubei Province. The main line has a total length of 255.76 kilometers, including 86.36 kilometers in Hubei Province and 169.4 kilometers in Shaanxi Province, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

After the Xi'an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway opens, Xi'an to Shiyan will be reached within 1 hour, and the railway travel time from Xi'an to Wuhan will be shortened from the current 5 hours to about 2.5 hours.
