Join Hands to Advance Modernization and Promote Common Prosperity (International Forum)

　　Africa and China have forged a distinctive path of win-win cooperation on the road to development and revitalization, and Africa-China cooperation has become a model of South-South cooperation.

　　The 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) was held in Beijing earlier this month. Leaders of Africa and China gathered again in Beijing after six years to carry forward traditional friendship, deepen unity and collaboration, and jointly write a new chapter in building a high-level Africa-China community with a shared future.

　　Since the establishment of diplomatic relations with African countries in 1956, China has always supported the development of the African continent. Africa and China have forged a distinctive path of win-win cooperation on the road to development and revitalization, and Africa-China cooperation has become a model of South-South cooperation. Since its establishment in 2000, FOCAC has become an important platform for practical cooperation between the two sides. Africa and China have adhered to extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, effectively promoting common development and prosperity. The theme of the 2024 FOCAC Beijing Summit is "Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future," which reflects the common expectation of both sides for achieving modernization.

　　This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and China, and also the "Egypt-China Partnership Year," during which the two countries will hold a series of exchange and cooperation activities in politics, economy and trade, investment, culture, tourism and other fields. In May this year, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi paid a state visit to China. The heads of state of the two countries held talks on bilateral relations, deepening cooperation in various fields and strengthening coordination within multilateral frameworks, and exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern. The two heads of state expressed appreciation for the signing in January this year of the Implementation Outline of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Between the People's Republic of China and the Arab Republic of Egypt (2024-2028). Based on the practical achievements in the development of bilateral relations in recent years, the Outline is a roadmap for developing bilateral relations and elevating them to a higher level. Egypt and China also agreed to make promoting industrial localization and technology transfer a priority direction of bilateral cooperation in the coming years.

　　In recent years, Egypt and China have jointly promoted the deep alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with Egypt's "Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt Vision 2030," promoting the continuous deepening of cooperation between the two countries. The two countries have carried out a series of fruitful cooperation projects, such as the completion of the electrified railway in the 10th of Ramadan City, investment in the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, and the launch of EgyptSat-2. Egypt has joined the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and successfully hosted the bank's 2023 annual meeting.

　　On many major international issues, Egypt and China understand and support each other. Egypt appreciates the Global Development Initiative proposed by China, believing it to be a global initiative that helps accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and Egypt will continue to actively participate in cooperation in various fields under the framework of this initiative. Egypt appreciates the Global Security Initiative proposed by China and is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China on safeguarding world peace and security. Egypt appreciates the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by China and, like China, believes that different civilizations should be respected and that exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations should be strengthened.

　　At the 2024 FOCAC Beijing Summit, leaders of Africa and China reaffirmed their firm commitment to friendly cooperation, and the overall positioning of Africa-China relations was elevated to an all-weather Africa-China community with a shared future for the new era. Africa and China support each other on safeguarding common principles and interests and join hands to advance modernization, which will promote common prosperity of both sides and make greater contributions to world peace and development.
