The year 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China and is a crucial year for achieving the objectives and tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan. To fully showcase how Urumqi City in Xinjiang has consistently treated high-quality development as the absolute principle of the new era and strived to open up new prospects for reform, development and stability in Urumqi, the Xinjiang Channel of China National Radio, in collaboration with the Cyberspace Administration of the Urumqi Municipal Party Committee, has planned and launched the online themed communication campaign "High-Quality Development in Xinjiang: 'New Quality, New Creation - Urumqi Chapter.'" The campaign focuses on Urumqi's proactive integration into the construction of the autonomous region's "Nine Major Industrial Clusters," uses documentary-style reporting to present the strong pulse of Urumqi's accelerated cultivation and development of new quality productive forces, and sounds the call of the new era for forging ahead with vigor, advancing with determination, and achieving all-round revitalization.
Construction vehicles shuttle back and forth, large machinery rumbles without cease, and construction workers are full of energy... In recent days, the project owners of various projects at the photovoltaic base in the northern desert of Midong District, Urumqi City, Xinjiang, have been seizing the golden construction period to make every effort to advance photovoltaic project construction.
At the construction site of the northern area of the Huadian Midong District 500,000-kilowatt photovoltaic project, workers are installing photovoltaic panels in an intense and orderly manner. Rows of already completed photovoltaic panels are connected into continuous expanses, like a blue ocean extending steadily into the depths of the Gobi, presenting a thriving new atmosphere.
Tong Hairui, project execution manager of China Nuclear Huaxing Construction Co., Ltd., introduced: "As autumn arrives and the weather gradually cools, we have reasonably adjusted working hours. At present, 90% of the total project workload has been completed."
The project has a total investment of approximately 1.95 billion yuan and a planned construction area of 18,800 mu. After completion, its average annual power generation will be approximately 832,300 megawatt-hours, and it will save approximately 250,300 tons of standard coal annually and reduce annual emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and other gases by more than 680,000 tons, delivering significant economic, social and ecological benefits.
Zhao Kaichang, captain of the project's installation team, joined the construction team in May this year and is mainly responsible for the assembly and installation of photovoltaic panels.
While busy installing photovoltaic panel components, Zhao Kaichang introduced: "Although conditions here are tough, the project's supporting facilities are complete and shopping is convenient. We are confident that we will complete our tasks with guaranteed quality and quantity."
During the project construction process, the Midong District Party Committee, the district government and various functional departments gave strong support and provided many service and guarantee services for the project, greatly improving construction efficiency and ensuring that the project could proceed smoothly according to schedule. "We will work against the clock to carry out the installation of brackets and components, ensure project quality and safety, meet grid-connection requirements, and strive to achieve smooth grid connection this month," said Tong Hairui.
The photovoltaic base in the northern desert of Midong District covers a total area of approximately 1.03 million mu and is planned for a total installed capacity of 20 million kilowatts. The eight photovoltaic projects introduced last year and the five newly started this year are being accelerated, among which the country's largest single-unit desert photovoltaic project - the China Green Power Urumqi Midong District 3.5 million-kilowatt photovoltaic project - has been connected to the grid and begun generating electricity. The construction of this base will further promote the development and utilization of photovoltaic resources in Midong District and the development of the green power industrial cluster, facilitate the transformation of resource advantages into industrial and economic advantages, and add momentum and luster to the high-quality economic development of Midong District.
Ma Qiang, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Midong District Development and Reform Commission, said: "At present, all projects at the photovoltaic base are being accelerated. We will actively provide service and guarantee work, take the initiative to help coordinate and resolve problems in project construction, and accelerate the early completion and smooth grid connection of all projects."
