Recently, the Houchangcun Station and shield tunneling sections of Civil Construction Contract Section 16 of the Beijing Rail Transit Line 13 Capacity Expansion and Upgrade Project, constructed by China Railway 14th Bureau Group, successfully passed the main structure acceptance. It became the first section on the entire line of China's largest existing-line renovation project to complete structural acceptance. The project will subsequently enter the construction stage of ancillary works and decoration, providing ample schedule assurance for completion and opening to traffic.

The Beijing Rail Transit Line 13 Capacity Expansion and Upgrade Project is located in the existing Xierqi-Longze-Huilongguan station section of Line 13. Through line reconstruction and other technical means, it will build 19 new stations and about 29 kilometers of new lines, and renovate about 34 kilometers of existing lines. The existing inverted "U"-shaped Line 13 will be split, creating "X"-shaped east-west horizontal lines between Line 16 and Line 17. The two split lines will be interconnected and interoperable, with conditions reserved for cross-line operation, enabling cross-line train organization.

The acceptance scope includes the ancillary works of Houchangcun Station and two shield tunneling sections. The acceptance team, composed of the Beijing Municipal General Station of Construction Engineering Safety and Quality Supervision, Beijing MTR Construction Administration Corporation, the design unit, the survey unit, the supervision unit, and the construction unit, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the project's appearance and quality, and unanimously agreed to pass this acceptance.

Since the start of construction, in the face of a series of difficulties such as a tight schedule, heavy tasks, and great coordination challenges, the project team worked together with coordinated arrangements, actively established a special working group, comprehensively reviewed and coordinated with property rights units, optimized the construction plan, and adjusted the station location, scale, and shield launching direction, shortening the overall schedule of the section by 6 months. Ultimately, it became one of the first units on the entire line to enter the site, one of the first to start substantive construction, and the first to launch shield tunneling. Adhering to the management concept of green construction, the project installed an intelligent canopy system, fully enclosed vehicle washing machines, dust monitoring and perimeter sprinkler systems, and introduced a smart construction site management system, enabling the site to "see violations," "hear noise," and "smell hidden dangers."

According to reports, the Beijing Subway Line 13 Capacity Expansion and Upgrade Project is the largest existing-line renovation project in China and a key line in Beijing's 14th Five-Year Plan for rail transit. Once completed, it will effectively solve the problem of insufficient transport capacity in the core north-south corridor of western Beijing and ease traffic pressure between Zhongguancun and the Huitian area. At the same time, it will further improve the rail transit network in the northern region and enhance rail transit service levels.
