According to the project contractor Guangxi Road and Bridge Group, since construction began, the project has adopted a wall-chart battle plan and carried out round-the-clock uninterrupted operations to fully promote the healthy and orderly development of the project. In September 2024, the project will participate in the 21st China-ASEAN Expo, conducting phased functional demonstrations of intelligent systems such as the IGV unmanned transport function and platform scheduling.

It is understood that the project has currently completed 100% of earthwork excavation, 84% of building construction, 55% of pavement, and 100% of slope work, with 80% of the project completed overall.

Once the project is completed and put into use, with the help of automated, information-based and intelligent technologies, port clearance will be able to operate 24 hours a day with "no closing" and "zero waiting."

The China-Vietnam Smart Port (Friendship Pass-Friendship) project is China's first cross-border smart port project. Based on satellite navigation and 5G technology, the project uses container unmanned transport vehicles, automated lifting equipment, container inspection systems and intelligent image review systems to complete a smart command and scheduling platform for China-Vietnam cross-border logistics information exchange and docking. The Chinese section is expected to be completed and ready for trial operation by the end of 2024.
