Recently, the Zhongxin Avenue Station–Dongliudao Station section of Section 02 of Tianjin Rail Transit Line Z2 achieved new progress, with the right-line shield machine successfully received, marking the full completion of both tubes in this section.

The Phase I PPP project of Tianjin Rail Transit Line Z2 has a total length of 39.268 km, starting from Binhai Airport Station and ending at Beitang Station.

The Zhongxin Avenue Station–Dongliudao Station section starts from the east end of Zhongxin Avenue Station and is received at Dongliudao Station, with a total length of 2.17 km. The shield machine successively passed alongside important buildings such as the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the Airport Sports Center, and the Airport Cultural Center, and passed beneath the Yuanjia River before arriving at the receiving shaft at Dongliudao Station. The geological conditions along the route are relatively complex, requiring excavation through various strata including silty clay and silty sand, with complicated construction procedures, high difficulty, and high risk. In particular, during the shield machine's passage beneath the Yuanjia River area, this area is located at a variable stratum interface, and the shield machine and segment lining often face difficulties in controlling the shield machine's attitude and segment formation quality due to uneven forces when passing through this stratum.

To ensure the smooth tunneling and reception of the shield machine, the project team established a special shield reception task force and organized more than 10 seminars and expert consultation meetings. Through research and analysis of construction tunneling conditions and tunneling parameters, measures such as adding counterweights, adjusting the center of gravity of the shield machine, changing the grouting method and grouting volume, and thickening the segment gaps to reduce segment misalignment and damage were taken to ensure smooth shield tunneling; in conjunction with the supervision unit, strict inspections were carried out on equipment that passed acceptance, a rigorous functional system maintenance plan was formulated, regular repair and maintenance of equipment were implemented, and equipment operation was assigned to specific personnel and posts, with equipment operating procedures issued to prevent operational damage; through management measures such as on-site safety briefings and training, daily pre-shift talks, daily coordination meetings, and emergency drills, the safety production awareness of on-site workers was strengthened, and the 24-hour leadership duty system was strictly implemented, process monitoring was enhanced, and tunneling dynamics were fully monitored, ensuring the safe, stable, and orderly advancement and successful reception of the shield machine.

It is understood that the Phase I project of Tianjin Rail Transit Line Z2 is an important rail transit line connecting the central urban area with the Binhai New Area. As one of the key construction projects of the "Top Ten Projects of the Binhai New Area," once completed, the project will fill the metro gap in the Airport Economic Area of the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, greatly facilitate travel for residents of the Binhai New Area, and strongly promote the high-quality development of the Binhai New Area.
