To address the problems of existing mechanized equipment such as single functionality, poor flexibility, and low construction efficiency, CRCHI developed this fully computerized three-boom rock drilling jumbo. The complete machine is 17.6 meters long and 2.9 meters wide, with a maximum working height of 11.3 meters and a maximum working width of 16.6 meters. The maximum single-rod drilling depth is 5.2 meters. The rock drill has high power and fast drilling speed, achieving 3 to 5 meters per minute for blast holes. The jumbo is equipped with a fully computerized control system and features digital functions such as automatic, efficient, and intelligent drilling, anchor bolt construction, coordination with grouting and pipe-roof reinforcement, coordination with charging and scaling, advanced geological exploration and geological analysis, excavation face profile scanning, and rock drilling parameter and data storage and transmission. It also features anti-jamming and anti-idle-striking functions, fault diagnosis, and construction log recording. Functions can be expanded and upgraded according to customer needs; for example, hydraulic rod grippers and rod-connecting mechanisms can be optionally configured to enable the jumbo to perform long anchor bolt construction and advance drilling holes of 30 meters or more.

On site, the jumbo was positioned perpendicular to the working face, allowing three drill booms to be used simultaneously for anchor bolt holes. The construction angle of each anchor bolt hole can be accurately displayed on the jumbo's computer, making operation convenient and efficient. The probability of drill jamming and hole collapse is less than 10% (directly related to surrounding rock damage and interlayers). Since the equipment entered the site at the end of July this year, it has completed long anchor bolt hole construction for about 15 shifts. Using 21-foot drill rods plus a φ64 drill bit, a 6-meter anchor bolt hole can be completed in about 6 minutes; using 21-foot drill rods plus a 10-foot rapid drill rod and a φ89 drill bit, a 9-meter anchor bolt hole can be completed in about 12 minutes. The construction process is efficient and stable, and has been highly recognized by the customer.

CRCHI will continue to be customer-demand-oriented, carry out independent innovation, vigorously develop information-based and intelligent construction equipment, and contribute to the intelligent construction of tunnels in China.
