On August 23, the shield tunneling section from Shuiquan Station to the intermediate ventilation shaft on the eastern extension of Shenyang Metro Line 1, constructed by China Railway No. 9 Engineering Group, was successfully completed, one month ahead of the planned target. With the breakthrough of this section, the eastern extension of Shenyang Metro Line 1 has successfully achieved "tunnel holing-through."

The Dongling Park Station–Shuiquan Station section on the eastern extension of Metro Line 1 is the seventh section of the line, with a total length of approximately 1,616 meters, making it the longest section of the line. During construction, in addition to passing through multiple risk sources along the route and the long-distance parallel tunneling of the right line with a gas pipeline, the most influential factor came from geological conditions. The section is mainly located in completely weathered, strongly weathered, and moderately weathered granite layers as well as some silty clay strata. In local areas, the upper structure of the strata is loose with poor self-stabilization capacity, and the strata contain large amounts of confined water in bedrock fissures, making gushing and over-excavation highly prone to occur during tunneling, with extremely high construction difficulty and risk.

In response to the key difficulties of section construction, Shenyang Metro Group and the project department of China Railway No. 9 Engineering Group held multiple special meetings for discussion. During construction, they successively proposed a series of measures, including continuous rear segment grouting, modification of the screw conveyor discharge port, addition of a pressure relief valve to the screw conveyor, dispersant soaking of the chamber, customized hydraulic slurry pumps for professional sand extraction, and installation of dewatering wells along the section. These measures effectively reduced gushing and mud loss during tunneling, improved mud removal efficiency, and ensured that shield construction was completed smoothly according to the schedule plan.

Next, Shenyang Metro Group and the project department of China Railway No. 9 Engineering Group will accelerate the various finishing works at the station, reach track-laying conditions as soon as possible, and ensure that the year-end "track holing-through" milestone target is achieved on schedule.
