China has successfully found a development path suited to its national conditions, becoming the world's second-largest economy and lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty. Benefiting from pragmatic policies tailored to local conditions, China's economy has developed rapidly over the past decades, and its industrial and technological capabilities have made great strides, with notable achievements especially in renewable energy, the digital economy, artificial intelligence and other fields. At present, the world faces various complex challenges. China's experience shows that upholding the primacy of people's well-being and persisting in exploring a development path suited to a country's national conditions are crucial to a country's development.

China upholds the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and the correct approach to friendship and interests in developing relations and carrying out cooperation with Africa, bringing tangible benefits to the African people. China's investment in infrastructure projects such as highways, railways, ports and airports in African countries has promoted regional connectivity and trade facilitation. The industrial parks and factories built by Chinese enterprises in Africa have created job opportunities for African countries and promoted Africa's industrialization. Chinese enterprises actively invest in renewable energy projects, helping Africa address energy shortages and promoting sustainable development. China has helped African countries build hospitals, provided medical equipment and professional technical training, and improved local medical conditions. China supports African students in studying in China and carries out various types of educational exchanges with African countries. During the COVID-19 pandemic, China actively provided humanitarian assistance to African countries, supplying large quantities of medical supplies and professional expertise.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1970, Ethiopia-China relations have made great progress. The two countries have established an all-weather strategic partnership, understand and support each other on issues involving their respective core interests and major concerns, cooperate closely in international and regional affairs, and have achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation in various fields. China is Ethiopia's major trading partner and source of investment. In 2023, bilateral trade between the two countries exceeded US$3 billion, up 14.5 percent year on year. China's investment in Ethiopia's highways, railways and industrial parks has promoted Ethiopia's economic growth. The two countries have close educational exchanges, and people-to-people bonds are constantly being strengthened.

Ethiopia is an important participant in the Belt and Road Initiative. In Ethiopia, the Belt and Road Initiative has driven the development of key infrastructure such as highways, railways and airport terminals, improved connectivity and promoted the development of foreign trade. These cooperation projects have also created job opportunities and contributed to Ethiopia's efforts to advance poverty reduction and maintain economic stability.

Since its establishment in 2000, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation has promoted stronger cooperation between Africa and China in political, economic, cultural and other fields and has witnessed the comprehensive upgrading of Africa-China relations. The upcoming 2024 FOCAC Summit in Beijing will carry forward the traditional friendship between Africa and China and further deepen cooperation between the two sides. African countries look forward to discussing issues such as poverty reduction, food security, climate change and energy security with China, and to carrying out more cooperation on safeguarding multilateralism and building a fairer, more just, diverse and inclusive world. It is believed that this summit will build more consensus for a high-level Africa-China community with a shared future and make new contributions to building a more peaceful and prosperous world.
