When mentioning construction sites, most people picture "carrying bricks, tying rebar, and pouring concrete." However, as "digital and intelligent construction" scenarios continue to refresh, traditional construction sites now have a new look. A single construction project has applied 44 intelligent construction technologies and processes, making site construction smarter and safer.
On August 16, the Urumqi Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau held an observation meeting on intelligent construction and quality and safety standardization at the Urumqi Huamei Shengdi Ritz-Carlton Hotel Cluster and Commercial Tourism Complex Project, to gain on-site understanding of how this project fully applies 44 intelligent construction technologies and processes throughout the entire project design and construction process.
The Urumqi Huamei Shengdi Ritz-Carlton Hotel Cluster and Commercial Tourism Complex Project is located on the east side of the Xinjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center, where drilling rigs roar, tower cranes stand in clusters, and vehicles shuttle back and forth.
The project covers an area of approximately 46,700 square meters, with a total construction area of 251,400 square meters, and broke ground in March this year. The overall layout of the project is divided into three towers and a podium, with functions covering hotels, commerce, and offices, committed to creating a *** urban reception hall.
This project is a benchmark intelligent construction project promoted by Urumqi this year. Through the application of BIM building information modeling, intelligent operation and management platforms, robots, and other new technologies and equipment, 44 intelligent construction technologies and processes have been fully applied throughout the entire project design and construction process.
What are the 44 intelligent construction technologies and processes? Wang Xiaoshuai, Assistant General Manager of Xinjiang Huamei Shengdi Tourism Co., Ltd., introduced that the project applies deep foundation pit monitoring, steel structure monitoring, worker positioning management, intelligent WIFI education, tower crane safety monitoring + hook visualization application, and an AI hazard identification system, using smart site equipment to achieve automatic monitoring, automatic analysis, real-time early warning, and automatic push notifications.
"The project has also applied intelligent plastering machines, large panel wall installation machines, intelligent construction elevators, intelligent drilling machines, and other intelligent equipment, comprehensively improving construction efficiency, enhancing construction quality, and saving construction time by replacing manual labor with machines," Wang Xiaoshuai said. Intelligent equipment is deeply linked to people, machinery, materials, safety, quality, and other links, giving the construction site "eyes, ears, and a nose"—able to "see" violations, "hear" noise, and "smell" hidden dangers.
"For such a massive building complex to apply 44 intelligent construction technologies is a qualitative leap for our construction industry's control and management, improving our control capabilities and efficiency," said Li Kangming, Safety Director of the First Construction Company of China Construction Xinjiang Construction Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd.
Urumqi was selected as a national intelligent construction pilot city at the end of 2022, becoming one of 24 pilot cities nationwide. As one of the national intelligent construction pilot cities, Urumqi is accelerating the advancement of building industrialization, digitalization, intelligentization, and green low-carbon development, promoting technological innovation and digital empowerment, vigorously advancing the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry, and accelerating the formation of new quality productive forces in the construction sector. At present, Urumqi has cumulatively built and cultivated 13 intelligent construction demonstration projects, 11 demonstration bases, and 6 industrial worker training bases.
"We will leverage the exemplary role of benchmark projects, summarize and promote best practices, drive the overall improvement of intelligent construction and construction project quality and safety levels, and enable ordinary people to live in green, low-carbon, intelligent, and safe homes," introduced Chen Han, Member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Urumqi Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau. At the same time, we will strengthen the technological leadership and transformation and application of achievements in intelligent construction, and in conjunction with the requirements of construction project quality and safety standardization, actively promote advanced technologies such as big data and the Internet of Things, effectively enhancing the quality and safety management level of construction sites.
