On August 17, the 5×7-meter rectangular pipe jacking machine for the pipe jacking construction of Auxiliary Entrance/Exit No. 10 of the Nanjing Metro Line 11 project undertaken by the Third Company of CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. was launched, marking the start of the company's first rectangular pipe jacking construction.

Pukou Wanhuicheng Station of Nanjing Metro Line 11 is located on the south side of the intersection of Pubin Road and Pukou Avenue, and Auxiliary Entrance/Exit No. 10 is located on the east side of the station, with the entrance/exit passage running across Pubin Road. After the passage is completed, pedestrians can travel from Kangping Road under Pubin Road to Pukou Wanhuicheng Station (Line 10) to transfer to Line 10. The pipe jacking method is adopted for part of the work on the project passage; the pipe jacking section is 46.5 meters long and consists of 31 pipe segments. The soil layer within the pipe jacking scope of this section is mainly mucky silty clay, and the pipe jacking machine has a burial depth of 5.14 meters. During pipe jacking construction, it is necessary to pass through a deep muck layer, facing construction technical difficulties such as difficult attitude control of the pipe jacking machine and head sinking of the pipe jacking machine, making construction highly difficult.

Since the preparation for pipe jacking construction began, the Nanjing Metro Line 11 project team has carried out scientific planning and meticulous deployment for the early-stage site layout and equipment selection, investigation, and demonstration of pipe jacking construction, and has organized experts to demonstrate and improve the special construction plan for the safe tunneling of the pipe jacking machine and the hoisting operation plan for large equipment. At the same time, in response to thorny issues such as the high difficulty, high requirements, tight schedule, and heavy tasks of pipe jacking construction, technical briefings were conducted at all levels, and relevant work instructions were prepared. By fully staffing and strengthening an experienced technical team and construction crew with strong execution, the project team successfully overcame a series of unfavorable factors, including the hoisting and transport of oversized components, a narrow construction site, cross operations on site, and a tight construction schedule, and promptly coordinated and resolved various problems arising at the construction site, ensuring the efficient completion within the scheduled time of the disassembly, hoisting in, transfer, lowering into the shaft, assembly, and commissioning of the pipe jacking machine as well as the implementation of other supporting facilities. The pipe jacking machine was ultimately launched smoothly according to the planned milestone.
