Beijing, August 22 (Xinhua) — Data released by China's National Energy Administration on the 22nd shows that in July, China's total electricity consumption reached 939.6 billion kWh, up 5.7% year on year.

　　By sector, electricity consumption in the primary industry was 14.2 billion kWh, up 1.5% year on year; the secondary industry consumed 565.6 billion kWh, up 5.0% year on year; the tertiary industry consumed 187.1 billion kWh, up 7.8% year on year; and urban and rural residential electricity consumption was 172.7 billion kWh, up 5.9% year on year.

　　From January to July, China's cumulative total electricity consumption reached 5,597.1 billion kWh, up 7.7% year on year, of which electricity generation by industrial enterprises above designated size was 5,323.9 billion kWh.

　　By sector, electricity consumption in the primary industry was 76.4 billion kWh, up 7.5% year on year; the secondary industry consumed 3,632.9 billion kWh, up 6.6% year on year; the tertiary industry consumed 1,039.6 billion kWh, up 11.0% year on year; and urban and rural residential electricity consumption was 848.2 billion kWh, up 8.4% year on year.
