Chengdu, August 21 (Xinhua) — The Emergency Management Bureau of Wutongqiao District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, issued a notice on August 21 stating that an accident occurred at the Sihe Coal Mine in Group 3, Baifang Village, Shilin Town, in the district while a ventilation shaft was being sealed, killing 7 people and leaving 1 trapped.

　　The official notice said that at around 10:00 that day, an accident occurred at the Sihe Coal Mine in Shilin Town, Wutongqiao District, Leshan City, while a ventilation shaft was being sealed, and a preliminary verification found that 8 people were trapped. As of 14:00, after all-out rescue efforts, 7 people had been found dead at the site, and rescue efforts were still under way for the remaining trapped person.
