China-made super-large offshore engineering hydraulic pile hammer YC-230 put into use at the Pingtan offshore wind power project in Fujian

As carbon peaking and carbon neutrality continue to advance, offshore wind power has become an energy supply method. As a key link in engineering projects, offshore wind power pile foundation construction has in recent years developed toward larger scale and lower cost, providing a stage for domestically produced large offshore engineering hydraulic pile hammers. Domestic equipment has absolute advantages in cost-effectiveness, on-site service, and delivery cycles. This time, Yong'an Machinery's YC-230 super-large offshore engineering hydraulic pile hammer is being applied at the Datang Wind Power Pingtan Changjiang'ao offshore wind power project. The project has a total investment of 1.108 billion yuan and installs 11 10-megawatt offshore wind turbine units independently developed by Dongfang Wind Power, with a total installed capacity of 110 megawatts.

The project is located in the Changjiang'ao waters of Pingtan, where geological conditions are special and the area is affected year-round by strong winds and typhoons. The natural construction conditions are extremely harsh, resulting in a short construction window. The steel pipe piles used in this construction adopt a variable-diameter steel pipe pile process. The piles are 75 meters long, with a top diameter of 7.5 meters and a bottom diameter of 8 meters. Each pile weighs 1,500 tons and has a penetration depth of 36 meters. They also need to be driven into granite layers, placing higher demands on the performance of the piling equipment.

The project is contracted by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd. Before construction, the contractor investigated multiple pile hammer manufacturers at home and abroad and ultimately chose Yong'an Machinery as the partner for this project. As an outstanding supplier to China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group for many years, Yong'an Machinery actively cooperated. In previous offshore wind power project cooperation, Yong'an Machinery successfully applied the YC-180 and YC-210. On this basis, Yong'an Machinery developed the YC-230, a domestically produced super-large offshore engineering hydraulic pile hammer suitable for construction of this project. It is currently the world's largest single-acting hydraulic pile hammer.

The Yong'an Machinery YC-230 hydraulic pile hammer is equipped with two 3000P power packs, has a maximum striking energy of 3,900 kJ, a hammer core mass of 230 tons, and is equipped with a 7.5-meter pile cap. During construction, the project department scientifically formulated the construction plan and rationally allocated manpower and machinery resources. Yong'an Machinery's technical personnel actively cooperated in commissioning and operating the YC-230. With only 2,426 blows and a maximum striking energy of 3,000 kJ, the single-pile position construction of the Datang Wind Power Pingtan Changjiang'ao wind power project contracted by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group was successfully completed!

The successful application of Yong'an Machinery's equipment marks a gratifying achievement by domestically produced large hydraulic pile hammers in the world's piling industry. It further breaks down the high barriers erected by the West, resolves the bottleneck technology of large hydraulic pile hammers, changes the situation in which China's products of this type relied on imported equipment, and saves a large amount of equipment cost for the contractor!

At the same time, in the pile driving and pile extraction construction of the four positioning piles of this project, the equipment used was Yong'an Machinery's YZ-600 hydraulic vibratory hammer. Yong'an Machinery's hydraulic vibratory hammer adopts an embedded motor design to better protect the motor. The motor is rigidly connected to the top plate, greatly reducing exposed oil pipes and improving equipment stability. It is equipped with a two-stage vibration damping system to better protect cranes and other lifting equipment, while also providing greater pile extraction force during pile extraction. The entire machine adopts offshore engineering processes and is coated with nano anti-corrosion materials, ensuring long-term use of the equipment.
