Recently, as the "Yuelong No. 21" shield machine slowly broke through the wall, the right-line tunnel of the Xinshixu–Mawu shield-driven section (hereinafter referred to as the "Xinma section") of Guangzhou Metro Line 14 Phase II was successfully completed, marking the achievement of twin-tunnel breakthrough for the Chuangyiyuan–Xinshixu section. As of now, the civil engineering works of the entire Line 14 Phase II (Jiahewanggang–Guangzhou Railway Station) have reached 61% completion.

The Xinma section tunnel has a total length of approximately 705 meters and a maximum burial depth of 27 meters. The entire section runs parallel to the Airport Expressway elevated bridge and passes beneath multiple important buildings. The minimum curve radius of the tunnel alignment is 350 meters, and the maximum downhill gradient is 25.6‰. The geological conditions are complex and variable, imposing high requirements on the control of the shield machine's tunneling process.

To this end, Guangzhou Metro, together with the construction contractor Guangdong Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and the supervision unit China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group (Chengdu) Consulting & Supervision Co., Ltd., refined the construction organization plan to ensure that safety risk control measures before crossing were fully implemented. Through measures such as pre-inspection and overhaul of the shield machine, advance cutter replacement, and enhanced maintenance, the equipment was kept in good operating condition, enabling continuous tunneling. During construction, dedicated personnel were deployed for 24-hour surface monitoring, with regular monitoring of changes in ground and building conditions to ensure the safety of shield tunneling.

According to reports, the "Yuelong No. 21" shield machine was launched from Chuangyiyuan Station, passed through Mawu Station, was relaunched, and completed the tunneling task of the Xinshixu–Mawu shield-driven section. It became the 15th shield machine to arrive on Line 14 Phase II of Guangzhou Metro, providing conditions for the next phase of track works, electromechanical installation, station internal structure, and ancillary construction.

As of now, the civil engineering works of the entire Line 14 Phase II (Jiahewanggang–Guangzhou Railway Station) have reached 61% completion. Of the 8 stations, 6 have been topped out, 1 is under civil engineering construction, and the remaining 1 is in preliminary preparation; of the 8 sections, 6 have been completed and 2 are under civil engineering construction. Electromechanical installation and decoration construction are underway at 6 stations.
