On August 1, with the successful breakthrough of the final layer of rock and soil, the Chating Left Line Tunnel of the Panxing Railway smoothly achieved its breakthrough goal.

The Chating Left Line Tunnel is located in Lianghe Subdistrict, Panzhou City, with a total length of 920 meters and a maximum burial depth of only 36 meters. It is an important component of the relief line connecting the Panxing High-Speed Railway to the existing Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Line, and is constructed as a single-track tunnel. The centerline of the Chating Left Line Tunnel is approximately 20 to 100 meters from the left side of the existing Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Line, posing great construction difficulty and high safety risks.
Facing complex construction challenges and potential safety risks, the project team actively organized technical forces for in-depth research and problem-solving, continuously optimized the construction plan, and successfully established a comprehensive risk warning system. Through this series of scientific and efficient measures, the project team successfully overcame multiple challenges, including shallow tunnel burial, underpassing a spoil ground and municipal roads, karst geology, and rockfall.
Under the premise of ensuring project quality and construction safety, the construction team innovatively adopted a cantilever roadheader for excavation operations, adjusted the safety step distance in a timely manner, and strengthened advanced geological forecasting to ensure the scientific and efficient nature of the construction process. Ultimately, through the joint efforts of the entire project team, the Chating Left Line Tunnel smoothly achieved its breakthrough goal.
It is reported that the Panxing Railway, as the last project in Guizhou Province's goal of "high-speed rail access to every city," has a total length of approximately 98 kilometers, a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour, and a bridge-tunnel ratio of 90.66%. After the project is completed and opened to traffic, Guiyang and Xingyi will be reachable within 2 hours, and a 1-to-2-hour high-speed rail transportation circle from Guiyang to the central cities of the province's 8 cities (prefectures) will officially take shape, providing convenient travel for the people.
