On August 1, the Nanliang Tunnel and bridges of the LJ08-1 section of the Yinchuan-Kunming Expressway underwent final safety inspections to ensure readiness for opening to traffic next month. According to reports, the Nanliang Tunnel is located within Gancheng Township, Haiyuan County, Zhongwei City, and adopts a separated structure; the right tube is 2,295 meters long and the left tube is 2,325 meters long. Currently, all tunnels along the Ningxia section of the Yinchuan-Kunming Expressway are undergoing final safety inspections.

The Ningxia section of the Yinchuan-Kunming Expressway has a total length of 237 kilometers and a total investment of approximately 26 billion yuan. Construction began in August 2020, making it the largest single-investment transportation project in Ningxia to date. It starts in the Taiyangshan Development Zone of Wuzhong City and runs south through Litong District, Tongxin County, Haiyuan County of Zhongwei City, Yuanzhou District of Guyuan City, and Pengyang County, connecting seamlessly with the Pengyang-to-Daqiaocun section at the Gansu border. It is expected to open to traffic in mid-August.
