This is the "golden period" for project construction. Tongcheng City is anchoring its goals, seizing the moment and working swiftly, tracking the whole process, and supervising each project one by one, so that all key projects across the city are being accelerated.
　　At the site of the water intake gate project of Tongcheng City's Third Water Plant, part of the second phase of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe River Water Diversion Project, the roar of loaders, excavators, and cranes rises and falls, while construction workers, under the blazing sun, move about the site building the main structures of the main pump house and the auxiliary plant building. Work faces are spread out across the entire line, key projects are being pushed ahead at full speed, and the construction site is bustling and busy.
　　"We have necessary heatstroke-prevention medicines on site and have adopted heatstroke-prevention and cooling measures. In terms of working hours, we avoid the high-temperature periods to ensure workers' safety on the job," introduced Zhou Jinlei, deputy manager of the project.
　　The water intake gate project of Tongcheng City's Third Water Plant belongs to the second phase of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe River Water Diversion Project. Its water source is the Caizi Lake route, and it mainly supplies water to urban and rural areas. The project started on January 18 this year, with a total investment of about 70 million yuan, a construction period of 12 months, and a daily water supply capacity of 100,000 tons. The project is divided into two parts, the water intake and the pump station. At present, the main works have reached 60 percent of the construction schedule: the independent foundations of the auxiliary plant building have been completed, and it is planned to complete the construction of the main and auxiliary plant buildings and the installation of mechanical equipment by the end of September, ready for water supply.
　　To realize the people's "dream of comfortable housing" as early as possible, the site of the Tongxin Jiayuan resettlement housing project of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe River Water Diversion Project is going all out to speed up construction, and several brand-new residential buildings have been successfully completed. Large machinery such as excavators and loaders shuttles back and forth, and workers, seizing the fine sunny weather, have adjusted their working hours to avoid the high-temperature periods and are spread across various work faces carrying out the final stage of finishing work.
　　According to Wang Congzhou, project manager, the project has a total investment of 240 million yuan. At present, the main construction of the resettlement housing, the base course construction of part of the main roads, the paving of sidewalks, and the base course construction of the fire-engine access areas have been completed; what is underway now is the water and electricity and fire-protection installation in the basement, the main roads, cement-stabilized base construction, curbstones, ammonia gas, and later supporting greening construction. Overall construction progress has now reached about 80 percent.
　　The Tongxin Jiayuan resettlement site project is an important supporting project of the Tongcheng section of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe River Water Diversion Project in Anhui Province, and also a people's livelihood project that safeguards and improves living standards. The project mainly provides resettlement housing for some of the relocated residents involved in the project, and once completed it can meet the housing needs of 668 households.
　　Wang Congzhou said the project construction unit will always carry out construction strictly in accordance with construction specifications and standards, and will achieve high standards and strict requirements in construction progress, safety and quality, and civilized construction, to ensure the project passes completion acceptance by the end of September.
　　It is understood that Tongcheng City has a total of 86 key government-invested projects in 2024, with a total investment of 43.493 billion yuan. So far, 61 have started, for an overall start rate of 70.93 percent. The planned investment for 2024 is 8.481 billion yuan, of which 2.472 billion yuan has been completed, a completion rate of 32.34 percent. "We adopt monthly scheduling and monthly reporting measures, strengthen project quality and safety supervision, ensure high-quality and efficient completion of construction tasks, and make sure the city's key projects are completed, put into operation, and deliver results as early as possible," said Liu Baohong, chief engineer of the Tongcheng City Key Project Construction Management Center.
