On July 30, with the completion of the final roof slab concrete pouring, the main structure of Jiaoyi Bay West Station of Section 2334 of Phase III of the Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2 project, constructed by China Railway Tunnel Group, was capped on schedule, marking the full completion of the project's main structure and its formal entry into the construction phase of ancillary structures and shield-driven tunnel sections.

Phase III of Line 2 runs from Humen Railway Station in the north to Jiaoyi Bay Station in the south, with a total length of 17.1 km and a total investment of 14.8 billion yuan. Construction began in August 2022 and is scheduled for completion in 2027. The Section 2334 project is located in Humen Town, Dongguan City, and covers one station and two running tunnels, namely the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal Station to Jiaoyi Bay West Station (inclusive) to Jiaoyi Bay Station section, with a total length of 2.9 km. Jiaoyi Bay West Station is located at the intersection of Binhai Bay Avenue and Zhenhai Road in Binhai Bay New Area, Dongguan City. The station has a total length of 213 m, a standard section width of 19.9 m, and a foundation pit depth of 18.2–20.5 m. It is equipped with two groups of ventilation shafts and four entrances/exits. The station and its ancillary structures are constructed using the open-cut bottom-up method.

Jiaoyi Bay West Station is a deep foundation pit project in an ultra-thick silt stratum, posing great challenges to safety management. In addition, C15 concrete CFG piles exist throughout the excavation area of the foundation pit, which significantly affect the construction of the pit retaining structure, base reinforcement and earthwork excavation, seriously constraining the overall construction progress of Jiaoyi Bay West Station. To ensure smooth progress of the project, Dongguan Rail Company, together with the participating units, conducted a detailed investigation of the unfavorable geological conditions within the construction area in advance, formulated targeted support and excavation measures, and established the earthwork excavation principle of "longitudinal segmentation, vertical layering, transverse blocking, and excavation after support." They strengthened process data monitoring, solidly implemented emergency response plans, and reinforced pit dewatering and drainage measures under extreme weather, ensuring safe and efficient foundation pit excavation. At the same time, through guidance from external experts, scheme review, and benchmarking studies, they effectively overcame common problems such as water leakage in the retaining structure, sediment entrainment and verticality issues, laying a solid foundation for the successful capping of the station.

The capping of Jiaoyi Bay West Station is another phased victory following the capping of the main structures of Humen North Station and Jinjie Road Station of Phase III of Line 2. Once completed, Phase III of Line 2 will establish a rail connection between the central area of Humen Town and Dongguan's urban area and Binhai Bay New Area, enhancing links between Humen and the urban area and Binhai Bay New Area. Through interchange connections with planned Line 3, the planned Shenzhen Line 20, the planned Guangzhou Line 22, the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway, the Zhongnan-Humen Intercity Railway and other rail transit lines, it will further improve the structure of Dongguan's urban rail transit network and strongly promote Dongguan's deep integration into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
