In recent days, Hefei has been dominated by sustained high temperatures and scorching heat, with temperatures climbing continuously. Under the blazing sun, construction workers in the Hefei High-tech Zone, wearing safety helmets and fully geared up, have been overcoming the "pincer attack" of heat waves and staying at the project front lines to ensure orderly progress of construction.
　"Battling High Temperatures" to Open Up the City's Bloodlines
　　Walking into the construction site of the Mingzhu Avenue upgrading and renovation project, workers are sweating profusely and fully focused on their construction work. High summer temperatures are the best time for road construction. To seize the key window, the project department, while making good preparations for heatstroke prevention, has been going all out to accelerate construction progress. The Mingzhu Avenue (Hangbu Road–Jixian Road) upgrading and renovation project has a total road length of about 2.3 kilometers and a total investment of more than 80 million yuan.
　　At the construction site of the Shawan Road construction project—Phase I roads of the iFlytek Town—workers are tying roof slab reinforcement. Under sustained high temperatures, the builders are braving the scorching sun, committed to advancing the basic supporting facilities of iFlytek Town with the best quality and the fastest speed, laying a solid foundation for the project's early commissioning.
　　Since the beginning of this year, the Hefei High-tech Zone has been advancing at full speed the construction of transportation networks such as the Phase I roads of iFlytek Town and Mingzhu Avenue, using "small blood vessels" to promote the circulation of "major arteries" and effectively enhancing the urbanization level of the area. Up to now, 16 roads including Xiaoshushan East Road have been completed, with a total length of about 10 kilometers; the improvement works for 5 pedestrian and non-motorized roads including Xianghongdian Road have been completed, with a total length of about 4 kilometers; and 26 projects under construction, including the Shilian South Road and Mingzhu Avenue upgrading and renovation projects, are being advanced.
　　"Ensuring Progress" in Building Industrial Parks
　　At the construction site of the Safety Valley in the High-tech Zone, workers are tying reinforcement and installing formwork, with various tasks being carried out busily and in an orderly manner. The project has a total construction area of about 270,000 square meters and will build high-rise offices, confidential offices, headquarters offices, a public testing platform and related supporting service facilities, totaling 10 complex buildings. At present, all 5 multi-story single buildings have been fully topped out, and 3 of the 5 high-rise single buildings have been topped out. Full topping-out is expected in August this year, and the project is scheduled for completion in May 2025.
　　"Our project adopts staggered working hours to avoid the highest temperatures at noon. At the same time, we have prepared a series of heatstroke prevention and cooling supplies for construction workers and strengthened safety inspections to ensure construction safety and progress," said the person in charge of the construction unit of the Safety Valley project.
　　The construction site of the Voice Valley Industrial Park is likewise in full swing, with workers tying reinforcement, pouring concrete, and sprinkling water for curing... going all out to sprint toward project milestones. The project has a total construction area of about 488,000 square meters and focuses on attracting R&D and achievement transformation enterprises, mainly building incubators, accelerators, and the like. The project is being built in two phases. At present, some multi-story single buildings have been topped out, and the high-rise single buildings are undergoing above-ground structural construction.
　　"To avoid the high-temperature period, I came here before 6 a.m.," said Master Wang, a construction worker. "We arrange things scientifically and work reasonably, battling the heat and rushing progress, and everyone is full of drive."
　　In the USTC Silicon Valley High-tech Incubation Park, machines are roaring and vehicles are shuttling back and forth, with main structure construction and pile foundation construction being carried out methodically—a busy scene.
　　As the High-tech Park among the "one core, two parks and one town" in the initial planning of "USTC Silicon Valley," the project has a total construction area of about 624,100 square meters and a total investment of 5.53 billion yuan. It is expected to be built into a concentrated area for alumni entrepreneurship incubation and achievement transfer and transformation. The project is being built in two phases. At present, some single buildings in Phase I have been topped out, while other buildings are steadily rising; the external transport of foundation earthwork for Phase II has been basically completed, and engineering pile foundation construction is underway.
　　As an important carrier of economic development, industrial parks bear important tasks such as promoting industrial upgrading, driving innovation, and cultivating new quality productive forces. The Hefei High-tech Zone will strictly control project quality and safety, go all out to advance project construction, and ensure that all projects are completed and put into use as early as possible.
　　"Delivering Coolness" to Firmly Hold the Safety Bottom Line
　　While construction at the front lines proceeds amid pouring sweat, support from the rear delivers coolness. Recently, the Hefei High-tech Zone launched a "Summer Coolness Delivery" care activity, sending heatstroke prevention and cooling supplies to frontline construction workers.
　　Cooling beverages are provided, and heatstroke prevention and cooling medicines are available for workers to take; each project department organizes safety education and training, urging construction units to strictly implement the work safety management system and ensure that all safety measures are put in place.
