On the morning of the 28th, the Zhenchuan Bridge project of the Qingyang Port section channel regulation works on the Shenzhang Line successfully passed completion acceptance and was officially opened to traffic. With this, 8 of the 9 bridge projects involved in the Qingyang Port section channel regulation works have been completed, bringing the passage of 1,000-tonne container vessels one step closer.

The Qingyang Port section channel regulation works on the Shenzhang Line is a major transportation and waterway project in Jiangsu Province and an important part of Kunshan's "Five Zones and One Line" plan. The Zhenchuan Bridge project was constructed by the Office of the Kunshan Waterway Engineering Construction Command, managed on behalf of the owner by the Transportation Construction Company of Suzhou Communications Investment Group, and built by the consortium of China Construction Seventh Engineering Bureau and Kunshan Communications Construction. The project route is 931.127 meters long in total, with a bridge length of 507 meters. The main bridge is a butterfly-wing-shaped asymmetric steel arch tower cable-stayed bridge, and the approach bridges are cast-in-place prestressed concrete continuous box girders, resembling "twin lotus flowers."

According to the Communications Investment Group, the completed Zhenchuan Bridge has a vertical clearance of 91.2 meters, making it the highest bridge over inland waterways in Suzhou. The small steel arch tower on the bridge weighs 1,350 tonnes and the large steel arch tower weighs 1,750 tonnes. In terms of construction technology, the vertical rotation construction technique for steel arch towers adopted in the Zhenchuan Bridge project is the first of its kind in Suzhou bridge construction and set a record for the heaviest steel tower rotation among similar steel-structure cable-stayed bridges in Jiangsu Province. Moreover, during main bridge construction, permanent structural cables were rationally used to assist the rotation construction, carrying out asymmetric phased rotation construction—a domestic first that greatly enhanced construction safety and economy.

Accordingly, the vertical rotation construction of the steel arch towers was also the key process with the highest difficulty coefficient in the Zhenchuan Bridge construction. To overcome difficulties such as the great rotation difficulty, tower frame deviation, and high requirements for rotation cable force control, the Transportation Construction Company organized the participating units several times to discuss and improve the construction plan, and invited expert teams to provide technical review and guidance, ensuring that the construction plan design was scientific, reasonable, safe, and reliable. At the same time, during the vertical rotation construction of the steel arch towers, 3D laser scanning technology, real-time data acquisition systems, and a construction digital twin platform were used to achieve digital, refined, and intelligent control of the bridge tower rotation construction. Trial rotation operations were also conducted to clarify the technical and safety requirements for the formal rotation, ensuring the safe and smooth implementation of this key process.
