On July 26, the Fuxian Tunnel of the Xi'an-Yan'an High-Speed Railway, constructed by China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., was successfully holed through, marking a phased victory in the construction of key and difficult projects along the entire Xi'an-Yan'an High-Speed Railway line and laying a solid foundation for the full opening of the line.

The Fuxian Tunnel is located within Jiaodao Town and Fucheng Subdistrict Office, Fuxian County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. With a total length of 16.29 kilometers, it is the longest tunnel in the Yan'an section and the second longest tunnel on the entire line. The tunnel has complex geological conditions and passes beneath oil and gas pipeline networks, expressways, villages, ponds, and shallow-buried gullies, making it highly prone to collapse, roof falls, and similar incidents during construction, with high construction difficulty and risk. In the face of complex geological conditions, the Xi'an-Yan'an High-Speed Railway Project Department of China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group carried out construction method exploration and scientific research experiments, developing a scientific construction approach of "ensuring workmanship through equipment, ensuring quality through workmanship, ensuring safety through quality, and promoting progress through safety," and promoted smooth blasting technology across the entire line to help accelerate project progress.

As a key construction project during Shaanxi's 14th Five-Year Plan period, the Xi'an-Yan'an High-Speed Railway will, once completed, connect the three major regions of Guanzhong, Northern Shaanxi, and Southern Shaanxi, shortening the travel time from Xi'an to Yan'an from two and a half hours to about 1 hour. It is of great significance for deeply advancing the Western Development Strategy, supporting rural revitalization in the old revolutionary base areas, promoting high-quality coordinated regional development, further improving and optimizing the layout of the national high-speed railway network, and enhancing Shaanxi Province's locational advantages and its position as a hub in the national railway network.
