At 10:18 on July 24, at the construction site of Huinan Grand Bridge in Huinan Town, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, the last arch rib beam—63 meters long, 3.4 meters high and weighing 98.6 tons—was precisely lifted into place, marking the successful closure of the 128-meter tied-arch ribs spanning the Dazhi River on the Huinan Grand Bridge of the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway.

The 128-meter tied-arch ribs spanning the Dazhi River on the Huinan Grand Bridge are located between piers No. 339 and No. 340 of the bridge, crossing the Dazhi River navigation channel. The bridge has a total length of 130.2 meters and a deck box width of 17 meters. The lifting operation used the floating crane method. It is the first double-track railway bridge on the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway to be constructed using the arch-first, beam-later method, and the construction is characterized by a large span, a long construction period, high technical difficulty and high safety risks.

The second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway is located in the riverside and coastal areas of southern Jiangsu and Shanghai. It starts in the north at Taicang Station of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway and connects in the south to Situan Station of the Shanghai Pudong Railway, passing through Taicang City under the jurisdiction of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, as well as Jiading District, Baoshan District, Pudong New Area and Fengxian District of Shanghai. The line has a total length of 111.8 kilometers and a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour. The entire line has Taicang, Xuxing, Shanghai Baoshan, Waigaoqiao, Shanghai East and Situan stations, with Caolu Station and Huinan Station reserved. The project adopts a mixed passenger and freight transport organization model, of which 7.3 kilometers are in Jiangsu Province and 104.5 kilometers are in Shanghai.

The second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway is an important part of the coastal railway corridor in the national medium- and long-term railway network plan and an auxiliary corridor of the Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu corridor and the Beijing-Shanghai Railway. It mainly undertakes intercity passenger exchange between Shanghai, southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu, while also accommodating freight transport functions. After the project is completed and opened to traffic, it will further expand the line and station capacity of the Shanghai hub and incorporate Pudong into the national railway network. It is of great significance for implementing the Yangtze River Delta integration development strategy, advancing the development of sea-rail intermodal transport in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and serving the national economy and people's livelihood.
