On July 17, the Baishiling Tunnel, a key control project of the Shenzhen Baishiling Area Natural Gas Pipeline Adjustment Project designed by the Southwest Branch of China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corp. (CPECC), was successfully holed through. The tunnel is about 6.1 kilometers long and is a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) tunnel in China.

The Shenzhen Baishiling Area Natural Gas Pipeline Adjustment Project is an important part of improving the major energy corridor of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and is of great significance for enhancing Shenzhen's source supply capacity for innovation-driven development, raising the level of regional collaborative innovation, and strengthening Shenzhen's function as a core engine of scientific and technological innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

During construction, the tunnel had to pass through 8 different fault fracture zones, traverse urban parks and pass near high-speed railways and reservoirs, and faced risks such as water inrush. The design and construction were highly difficult, the construction space was narrow, and there was nowhere to stack the excavated spoil. The CPECC Southwest Branch gave full play to its technical advantages in mountain tunnel crossing and mountain tunnel crossing in karst areas, set up a dedicated design team and expert team, and carried out research on the topic of "Research on Key Technologies for Construction of TBM Tunnels for Oil and Gas Pipelines in Complex Environments." It developed more than 10 technologies, including the design of TBM tunnels crossing fault zones, the design of TBM tunnels crossing the intersection sections of existing tunnels, stress analysis of pipeline laying in ultra-long tunnels, and safe pipeline operation and maintenance. During construction, the company assisted the construction contractor in preparing more than 80 construction plans, formulated 9 risk assessment and control measures for machine jamming, collapse, and sudden water inflow, and dispatched an expert team to stay on site to provide full-time engineering design services, ensuring the safe, high-quality, and efficient holing-through of the tunnel. The project set excavation records of a maximum monthly advance of 868 meters and a maximum daily advance of 47 meters.
