Recently, the cumulative excavation of both tubes of the Xiongbeiling Tunnel on the Jianggui Expressway in Guangxi surpassed the 1,000-meter mark, making it the first section on the entire line to achieve a cumulative excavation mileage of over 1,000 meters for both tubes of the main works.

Precise deployment to drive progress

The Xiongbeiling Tunnel has a maximum single-tube length of 4,970 m, making it the longest tunnel on the entire line and a controlling project. The mountain body in the tunnel site area features typical karst topography, with steep mountains, deeply incised river valleys, and extremely complex geological conditions. Both the entrance and exit ends are tunnel-to-bridge transitions; the slope at the exit end is nearly 70° and forms a steep cliff, making it highly prone to debris landslide risks. Under such terrain conditions, excavating a tunnel is difficult beyond imagination.

The construction party has consistently focused on the main theme of "seeking progress while maintaining stability, and promoting stability through progress," adhering to refined, standardized, and normalized construction. It organizes scientifically, deploys precisely, closely tracks milestones, and works backward from deadlines to ensure tight process sequencing and real-time controllable efficiency. It also comprehensively considers resource allocation and schedule deployment, refines and breaks down construction tasks, pre-discusses construction difficulties, and drafts contingency plans in advance, providing strong guarantees for building a quality project. At the same time, through regular project work meetings, weekly key-task progress meetings, weekly production meetings, and daily stand-up meetings, it promptly summarizes and reports on-site construction conditions and key difficulties, resolves problems and hidden risks during the process, and advances all work smoothly and orderly, achieving breakthrough progress in construction.

Close quality control to ensure contract fulfillment

Since tunnel excavation began on June 17, 2023, the project has faced multiple risk challenges, including steep terrain, reverse-slope drainage, crossing fault zones, and fractured rock masses. To ensure tunnel construction safety and quality, the construction party has taken standardized construction as its starting point, addressing multiple links such as construction plans, technical disclosures, construction techniques, and inspection and acceptance. It emphasizes construction according to drawings and regulations, with strict monitoring and control to ensure compliance. Tunnel excavation strictly follows the construction principles of "advance pipe forepoling, strict grouting, short excavation, strong support, rapid closure, and frequent measurement." In accordance with design requirements and construction processes, it strictly controls the construction quality of initial support and secondary lining, achieving solid interiors and aesthetically pleasing exteriors. During on-site construction, it consistently strictly controls each process, including the tunnel face, invert, and secondary lining pouring, in accordance with specifications and design requirements, deploys meticulously, strictly upholds the red line of quality control, and strives to build a quality project.
