On July 17, Diaoyucheng (Diaoyu Fortress), located in Hechuan District of Chongqing, is the best-preserved ancient battlefield site in China to date. The reporter learned on the 17th from the Hechuan District special session of the "Shouldering New Missions, Districts and Counties Discuss Implementation" series of themed press conferences held in Chongqing that the locality is "rolling out" four major measures to promote the high-quality development of Diaoyucheng, striving to build it into a "pearl of Chongqing tourism," a new landmark of the Bashu cultural and tourism corridor, a national 5A-level tourist attraction, and an internationally renowned tourist destination.

Wu Daming, member of the Standing Committee of the Hechuan District Party Committee of Chongqing and head of the Publicity Department, introduced that Diaoyucheng is a well-known cultural landmark of Chongqing. "It witnessed the turning point of world history, recorded the loyal and courageous spirit of the Chinese nation, accumulated the military wisdom of the Chinese nation, wrote the path of integration of the Chinese nation, and also demonstrated the humanitarian brilliance of putting life above all else."

It is reported that in order to further enhance the visibility, reputation and influence of Diaoyucheng, Hechuan District is making efforts to tap into the value of Diaoyucheng and add new connotations to the ancient city.

Wu Daming said that Hechuan District has systematically sorted out the historical and cultural context of Diaoyucheng, and has comprehensively and from multiple angles explored and interpreted its history and culture, military value and global influence; it has carried out research projects and advanced the application for World Heritage status of the Diaoyucheng site; it has tapped into core values and explored ancient relics and remains, further extending the connotation and extension of Diaoyucheng's profound humanities, so that those still-sleeping chapters of history can radiate new vitality in the present.

At the same time, Hechuan District has also optimized business formats and unlocked new ways to play in the scenic area. At present, Diaoyucheng has developed some new routes, new products and new ways to play, which not only offer entertainment and relaxation, but also allow for archaeological tours, educational study tours and family tours. The locality is also building the Diaoyucheng Digital Exhibition Hall and Display Center, where visitors can, through new technologies such as digital projection and holographic virtual imaging, travel through history and feel the intense fervor of the Battle of Diaoyucheng.

In order to give visitors something worth seeing and exploring at Diaoyucheng, Hechuan District has launched short dramas, high-quality videos and performance sketches themed on Diaoyucheng, and, relying on Hechuan's intangible cultural heritage, has developed a series of Diaoyucheng cultural and creative products and tourism commodities, aiming to enrich products and bring visitors new experiences.

Hechuan District is also letting history shine with new brilliance by telling its stories well. Wu Daming said that the locality has vigorously cultivated and introduced professional talent, and has recruited, introduced and trained a group of high-quality college student volunteers and "little docents," so that the stories of Diaoyucheng are told by someone from generation to generation. At the same time, it has connected with online drama and film crews to shoot film and television works at Diaoyucheng, created more literary and artistic works themed on Diaoyucheng, and, by continuing to hold events such as the Diaoyucheng Tourism and Culture Festival and the Diaoyucheng Marathon, has enabled more people to learn the story of Diaoyucheng.
