According to the Information Office of Chongming District, at 4:20 a.m. on July 16, with the pouring of the last truckload of concrete, the pier body of Pier No. 525 of the Chongming Grand Bridge on the North Yanjiang High-Speed Railway was completed, marking the completion of all pier bodies in the Jiangsu section of the Chongming Grand Bridge of Section V (pre-station) of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway's Shanghai-Nanjing segment. The Chongming Grand Bridge is a key project of Section V (pre-station) of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway's Shanghai-Nanjing segment. The main line has a total length of 19.072 kilometers and consists of 24m/32m-span precast simply supported girder bridges, 577 precast box girders, one Chongming Station built to the standard of 2 platforms and 6 tracks, and 10 large-span node bridges crossing roads and rivers.

The construction red line of the Chongming Grand Bridge spans both Chongming District of Shanghai and Qidong City of Jiangsu Province. The Chongming Grand Bridge (First Sub-section) has 2,141 bored piles and 259 bridge piers. Among them, the Jiangsu section has 376 bored piles and 45 bridge piers. At present, all bored piles and bridge piers have been completed, and construction has fully entered the superstructure phase.

The Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway is the eastern segment of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway and an important component of the Yangtze River corridor of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. It will handle the main network passenger flows of the Yangtze River corridor as well as part of the through passenger flows from the coastal and Beijing-Shanghai corridors to Shanghai. Once completed, the project will establish a new fast corridor among the Shanghai metropolitan area, the Nanjing metropolitan area, and the Hefei metropolitan area, and is of great significance for optimizing the railway network layout in the Yangtze River region, serving the coordinated development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and promoting high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
