On July 12, Jiangxi's first export "explosion-proof" earth pressure shield tunneling machine, "China Railway No. 1412," successfully rolled off the production line at the Nanchang Rail Transit Industrial Park.

According to reports, the "China Railway No. 1412" shield tunneling machine will be used in the Lot 1+2 railway tunnel project of the Sicily Phase II project in Italy. This project is an important component of the railway line connecting the two major cities of Catania and Palermo in Italy. Once completed, it will strengthen internal and external connectivity of Sicily, increase the passenger and freight train capacity along the line, ensure the regularity and punctuality of train operations, further improve the travel experience of local residents, and effectively promote local economic development.

This type of shield tunneling machine is manufactured by Jiangxi China Railway Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd., with an excavation diameter of 9.48 meters, a total length of approximately 251 meters, and a total weight of approximately 2,300 tons. It adopts an explosion-proof design that meets multiple standards including the ATEX EU explosion-proof directive, CE EU safety certification, and local Italian regulations.
