Towers stand in rows and pipelines crisscross. In the petrochemical industry, pipelines are the blood vessels connecting every piece of equipment. Behind every project there is a group of pipeline workers who, with wisdom and sweat, perfectly connect pipe after pipe, converging them into countless legends of industrial construction.

　　In May this year, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Finance announced the list of 2023 ***Master Technician Studios. The Hua Guozhang Master Technician Studio of Zhejiang Industrial Equipment Installation Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Zhejiang Installation"), affiliated with Zhejiang Construction Group, was selected. As one of the five selected in Zhejiang Province this time, Hua Guozhang is also the ** master technician studio of Zhejiang Construction Group to be rated as a *** master technician studio.

　　As the leader of the studio, Hua Guozhang graduated from the Zhejiang Industrial Equipment Installation Technical School in 1991 and joined Zhejiang Installation. In July 2018, he became the head of Zhejiang Installation's provincial-level pipeline master technician studio. He has honed his skills through hard practice, always upholding a craftsman's spirit of striving for perfection, and grew into a talent through experience on frontline sites, working there for more than 30 years. Under his leadership, the studio actively carries out work such as mentoring apprentices, tackling technical challenges, passing on skills, and promoting skills.

　　Pipeline installation for steam turbines is an important part of the construction of the entire unit. In steam turbine pipeline installation, after the unit is put into operation, saturated steam at 550 degrees Celsius flows through the pipelines at pressures as high as 10.6 MPa. The installation quality of pipelines for such special high-temperature and high-pressure equipment allows no carelessness whatsoever. If the pipe cutting length, groove angle, or fit-up clearance is not properly controlled, the consequences may range from replacing gaskets to damaging the steam turbine, or even causing serious quality accidents.

　　"When we participated in the construction of the Linde Air Separation project in the (Ningbo Daxie) Wanhua Industrial Park, we encountered a high-temperature and high-pressure steam pipe whose flange surface error had to be controlled within 28 silk (1 silk = 0.01 mm), which was very difficult for us pipefitters." Every time Hua Guozhang takes on such an important task, he is always meticulous and ensures that nothing goes wrong, ultimately completing the related work successfully.

　　Process pipeline prefabrication is a key technical focus in installation engineering; scientific and reasonable prefabrication can yield twice the result with half the effort. Hua Guozhang actively carries out technological innovation and technical transformation, overcoming technical difficulties. He participated in the *** construction method "Industrialized Prefabrication Construction Method for Process Pipelines" edited under the auspices of Zhejiang Installation, and successfully applied it to key projects such as the Deshan Chemical dry silica project and the Hangzhou Xiasha Bayer biopharmaceutical project. He also participated in the innovation and implementation of technologies such as process pipeline prefabrication for large polyester chemical fiber units and integral hoisting of molecular sieve pipelines for large air separation units.

　　At the same time, Hua Guozhang actively undertakes the company's scientific research tasks. In 2018, he invented the utility model patent "A Positioning Device for Embedded Sleeve Installation"; in October 2021, as the ** inventor, he successfully developed the utility model patent "A Small-Diameter Pipe Fit-Up Device," helping to improve the quality and efficiency of engineering construction and the high-quality development of the enterprise. In addition, Hua Guozhang has published research papers such as "Air-Conditioning Pipeline Connection Technology for High-Rise Civil Buildings" and "Quality Control of Chemical Process Pipeline Installation."

　　BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a hot technology in the current construction industry. In Hua Guozhang's view, a modern industrial worker must have both traditional foundations and innovative thinking. He studied BIM technology earnestly, used computers to deepen the design, optimized the layout of process pipelines, effectively solved problems such as pipeline clashes, reduced project costs, and improved work efficiency.

　　Hua Guozhang has always established an awareness of technology first and quality winning, attaching importance to breakthroughs in vocational skills and construction technology. Although he is already in a management position, he has always stayed on the frontline of construction, continuously delving into the construction technology of process pipelines.

　　In 2020, the provincial-level master technician studio led by Hua Guozhang advanced with the times and built an advanced industrialized pipeline prefabrication production line, enabling cutting, grooving, and pipe fitting fabrication to be completed in one pass. Combined with BIM deepened design, it realized the integration of prefabrication, assembly, and inspection, greatly reducing workers' labor intensity, ensuring product quality, and improving labor productivity. The "Zhejiang Installation Craftsmen" have been given wings by technology and work more efficiently.

　　More than 30 years of tempering have gradually turned Hua Guozhang into a "master craftsman leader" in the building installation industry. In September 2016, Hua Guozhang participated in the "Shaanxi Construction Cup" Vocational Skills Competition of the National Housing and Urban-Rural Development Industry at the China Skills Competition and won third place in the pipefitter group. In addition, he has successively received honors such as National Technical Expert, Model Worker of the National Housing and Urban-Rural Development System, Zhejiang Provincial Technical Expert, Zhejiang Golden Blue Collar, Zhejiang Craftsman, Zhejiang Construction Craftsman, Zhejiang Province's "Most Beautiful Builder," and Zhejiang Construction Group's "Zhejiang Construction Craftsman Leader."

　　The craftsman spirit is both the persistence of "choosing one thing and devoting a lifetime to it" and the meticulousness of "not daring to be at ease even by a hair's breadth," as well as the pursuit of "forging a vessel through millions of hammer blows." "Do things down-to-earth, keep learning new technologies, be the best pipefitter in the industry, and complete every project as if it were your own work." This is how Hua Guozhang describes the craftsman spirit.
