It is learned that on July 11, the main structure of Kangnan Road Station on Shanghai Metro Line 21 was successfully topped out, marking a phased victory in the project's construction and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent full-line opening and operation of Line 21.

Phase I of Shanghai Metro Line 21 starts at Liuchen Road Station on the east side of Shanghai International Resort and ends at Dongjing Road Station in Gaohang, Pudong, with a total length of about 28 kilometers and 18 stations, passing through Chuansha New Town, Kangqiao Town, Zhangjiang Town, Jinqiao Town and Gaohang Town. After the line opens, it will become an important north-south transportation route in the Pudong area, providing better public transport services for residents along the line.

Kangnan Road Station is located beneath the intersection of the planned Copernicus Road and Kangnan Road, arranged in a north-south direction. It is an underground two-story island-type station, adopting a cast-in-place reinforced concrete box structure with two columns and three spans. The effective platform width is 12 m, and the main station body measures 397 m x 28 m. The total building area of the station is 27,006 m2, including 4 entrances and exits and 2 groups of ventilation pavilions. The excavation depth of the foundation pit is 16.6-18.4 m, and the bottom of the pit is located in the fourth layer of silty clay. The open-cut method is adopted for construction.

To ensure the smooth topping out of the main structure, the rail transit Line 21 project department of China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group Shanghai Company carried out careful planning in the early stage. Adhering to the principle of "safety first, quality foremost," and on the premise of ensuring construction safety and quality, it continuously optimized construction procedures, scientifically arranged the schedule, and rationally organized construction, cross-operation and complex geological conditions, ensuring the effective implementation of various measures. The station structure also achieved the expected results, and the construction milestone was successfully completed.
