After 23 months of intensive construction, all 16 tunnels on the Jiangxi key construction project—the Suichuan-Dayu Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the Sui-Da Expressway)—have been fully holed through as of July 10.

The 127-kilometer Sui-Da Expressway features 16 tunnels with a combined single-tube length of nearly 58 kilometers, including 4 extra-long tunnels (the longest being 4.93 kilometers) and 5 long tunnels.

According to the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Transportation, as of now, the Sui-Da Expressway project has completed a cumulative investment of 19.131 billion yuan. For physical works, 98.17% of subgrade excavation and 98.82% of embankment filling have been completed, along with 94.53% of slope greening, 85.68% of beam and slab erection, and 100% of tunnel bore excavation.

The Sui-Da Expressway is an important component of the 9th north-south corridor among the "10 Vertical, 10 Horizontal, and 21 Connecting" routes proposed in the Jiangxi Provincial Expressway Network Planning (Revised 2018-2035).

The Jiangxi Provincial Department of Transportation stated that the construction of the Sui-Da Expressway is of positive significance for opening up a major expressway corridor in southwestern Jiangxi, promoting high-quality development in the revolutionary old area of Jiangxi, and connecting with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
